RIP
A more than decent footballer and not just a thug but still a right thug on the pitch.0 -

My earliest memory of him is the 1970 Fa Cup Final against Chelsea. Both sides had some very good players but were also not averse to kicking lumps out of each other. Very different game back then ...bobmunro said:hoof_it_up_to_benty said:He certainly didn't take any prisoners!Hunter was of course much more than just an uncompromising tackler - he was a very good footballer.RIP Norman.1 -
....scored a few screamers an all1

Very talented player, as well as a fearsome tackler, and unlucky that he was competing with the great Bobby Moore for a place in the England XI.
Fond memories of his angelic smile to the referee when being reprimanded after cutting someone in two!
RIP Norman you brought a lot of pleasure to those of us of 'a certain age.'4 -

Where men were men, not like the game today.

RIP
Looking at his record, you can see how tough he was by the number of games he played (882 club games + 30 for England) and how few games he missed, he was a 1st team regular for 17 years

As others have said he was a great player in a great team.
Being one of about 4 Charlton supporters at my school (every kid there seemed to support spurs Arsenal or West ham )
I absolutely loved it when Leeds turned them over.
He was my favourite player of that era, excluding Charlton players.
