RIP Tim Smith

Cardiacs frontman. My all-time #1 musical hero. Spent the past 12 years tragically incapacitated. His suffering is at an end. Farewell.

Such a shame. What a talented chap.

There is a video of the band's Maresnest concert, recorded in June 1990, on YouTube. It was an amazing performance.

    R.I.P.

The first band I ever saw when I moved to London from bonnie Jockland. The old Marquee Club on Wardour St,1985. Instantly hooked and caught them live as often as I could until their final tour in 2007 I think it was. Brilliant front man, guitarist, vocalist, songwriter. Absolutely devasted when I saw this news earlier. RIP Tim, Leader of the Starry Skies.

I was stunned that my cousin would be notable enough to warrant an RIP thread on Charlton Life. That said, I’m happy to realise he’s still alive!

RIP but glad his suffering is at an end.

Genuinely individual, unique and groundbreaking (words bandied around far too often in relation to musicians)

I like to think of him passing over to another world accompanied by the last two minutes of 'Dirty Boy'.

Here it is, in fact. Hopefully someone clicks 'play' by accident
