RIP Syd. One of those Charlton names that I'm not sure that I've ever met, but would probably go "oh, so that's who he is!" if you pointed him out to me. Another stalwart fan lost, it's really not been a good year all round. :(

Wally, Treadgold, Betty and now Sid. All a massive part of the away day travel experience  in the 70s, 80, and 90s.

    RIP Sid.

I remember Syd driving the coach to some away games. I can picture him now: a tall slim fella, wasn't he?
    RIP Syd.
Does this mean that Syd and dear old Betty have both died in this same awful year?

Am sorry to learn of this. Amusement aplenty.
Thank you for getting us there and back, safely, on numerous occasions, Syd.

I always remember Syd standing at the top of the escalators at Euston station handing out train tickets for some godforsaken northern hole we were off to that week.

I remember the Old Bill coming up to him once to ask what he was doing there - they'd obviously been watching random blokes keep coming up to him and giving him money in exchange for something.

Not your typical looking drug dealer, has to be said, but then the Old Bill ain't known for their intelligence!

    RIP Syd.

If it’s considered appropriate would anyone be able to put a picture of Syd up for those who know the name but can’t recall the face .

Will always remember that moment towards the end of various supporter evenings when the mood was high and there might be a sense of purpose to supporting the club. You could set your watch by Syd asking an almost irrelevant question about the accounts from two years ago which had already been passed and forgotten. I never quite knew if he was being serious or a tongue-in-cheek wind-up. RIP fellow Addick.

RIP Syd. Saw the likes of Garry Nelson giving him respect on twitter yesterday, he clearly made a big impact on people

RIP Syd. Organised travel with military precision. Left it until last game of season. Raised a glass and a smile at that. A one off.
