Exactly the same ligament that kept Bauer out in the promotion season, and Taylor out for 3 months last season.
Depending on the severity and rehabilitation done, very much depends on the length of time out. If they say initially 6 weeks, it means that it’s on the lower end of the grade 2 tear. Much better than it could’ve been which is great news.
Does mean of course that he will not likely be back until maybe the home game against his former side and our fellow troubled strugglers, Wigan on 17th October.

Its usually injured by taking a knock on the outside of the knee, that places a severe extension onto the inside. Sounds like it could have been worse so perhaps little external force.2

Why, when I see 6-8 weeks do I think 12.
Never known a CAFC player to come back early from an injury. Its always a few weeks later after "setbacks in training" .0 -

Certainly sounds like it. Fine by me. I think he had a fine end to season. Good experience and great to have in and around the squad. Hope Jason isn’t first choice but happy for him to be involved.9

Has played his part in the last 15 matches to get us back in the play offs picture. No problem with him being involved in the squad next season.3

I wouldn't object to him being in and around the squad as a leader and example, but I don't want us to be in the position where he's a regular first team starter. Ideally you'd have one or two of Pratley/Pearce/Watson as that Andy Hughes/Johnny Jackson "veteran" type but not all three.Henry Irving said:

He’s been a really good signing for us, captained us to a Wembley win and for that alone goes down in our history. In 30 years if the hall of fame are ridiculously specifically asking to vote players from the 2019-2021 period of our history he would get my vote.
That being said, if he wants to return next season it should depend on his playing time and salary expectations - both of which should be limited. It should also depend on whether we can sign 3 or 4 centre backs that are better, if so then we should thank him for his services and say goodbye. No room for sentiment.2 -
