Don't think this has been before but I am prepared to sink myself if so...

What rumours have we heard that we thought may happen etc?

The two classics I remember are, Ronaldo to come from Inter Milan on his way back from an injury and Javier Portillo from Real Madrird to join on loan.

    That's actually true, because he scored a hattrick against us in the Anglo Italian. He was available, but I think we gave Kim Grant another contract instead ...

    I think the story is.....he was offered to us after an anglo-italian cup game and we turned him down. I might be wrong but I'm sure AC said he wasn't what we were looking for.

    Kanu was a dead cert in the Sun before he joined WBA.

    Robert Green was linked MANY times but Charlton could never agree a fee of around 3m I think it was

    Steve Sidwell - missed out bigtime (he was the replacement for parker)
