Another shout for Queen's Gambit. More or less flawless. Great acting, great pace, great direction, great writing, great casting, great period detail, great cinematography, great writing...and the overall art direction deserves some kind of award. Might well be, along with Unorthodox, the best thing I've seen this year. Highly recommended.

Definiteiy the best I have seen this year, very impressive on all counts ... ohhh, and great music too
So a lot of people seem to like drama series about the middle East like Caliphate and Fauda. Are there other similar like series that others would recommend?
I recently watched a two series production on Prime called Mossad 101, about training prospective recruits to join the Israeli equivalent of our MI6. It was worth a watch imo, but I would not personally recommend as a must watch, which I did for Caliphate a while back.
On a similar theme, the latest series of The Bureau, about French agents in the region was as usual of a very high standard. Available on Prime, forget which subscription channel though.
Looming Tower is a good watch on Amazon Prime. based around the twin towers but lots going on in the middle east.

Can I have a brief summary of what it’s about please
About an orphan who becomes a world class chess player but struggles with drugs etc. It’s not the most dramatic series and there’s a lot of chess reference, but it’s acting and visuals make it well worth watching.

Another thumbs up for The Queen's Gambit. Favourite series of the year. Looked up Anya Taylor-Joy earlier and was surprised to discover that not only does she looks completely different in every interview, but also that she didn't speak English until she was 8, as she grew up in Argentina.

If youre anything like me that is not the kind of information you were looking for
just binged the good lord bird, great series in my view. Ethan Hawke is great in it. It sometimes ain’t sure what genre it is and can get a bit slapstick when it is in fact a great drama and story at heart.
completed black Monday series 2 this week in a day as well. Great silly as arseholes Tv right there.
This isn't my usual type of recco, but I am so pleasantly surprised by it that I thought I should mention it. Emily in Paris on Netflix is a light comedy in 25 minute episodes. Emily is a young American working in a Chicago marketing agency and gets sent to their Paris office for a year. It's a warm hearted play on stereotypes of both the rather naive and politically correct American girl who doesn't speak any French when she arrives, and the French who are politically incorrect, often grumpy and not wanting to take any lessons from some YAP. If that sort of set-up amuses you then like me you'll get quite a few LOL moments out of it. And the backdrop of Paris at its best is visually a long way from the Paris of Spiral.

My missus watched this and I ended up getting into it. I’ve watched a lot worse.
Mentioned by a few of you on here previously but currently binging through The Last Kingdom on Netflix. Only a few episodes left and really enjoyed it. Added bonus that the missus likes it too so its keeping her usual crap reality shows off the TV for a while!
Just started Watchmen. Very slick, high production values, Damon Lindelof series. Has anyone else seen it?
Yeah, I though it was brilliant and got better and better as it progressed. No need to be familar with the graphic novel or film but you get a bit more out of it if you are.
Binge watched The Crown and The Queen's Gambit. Excellent Netflix productions.
Also enjoyed the 6 part series The Spy starring Sacha Baron Cohen. Based on a true story about an Egyptian spy working under cover in Syria for Israel in the 60s. Thoroughly recommended.
Just finished The Queen's Gambit - one of the best things I've seen this year. I like the way it was shot and paced and Anya Taylor-Joy is excellent in the main role.

Right Bolloxbloke, I've on a whim let this just queue jump about 20 others on my list purely on your post. On your head be it pal!

It’s about a girl who plays chess 😀
Just read S4 will be 14 episodes, split into two 7s and the final series.
Rattled through it. Can't really put a finger on what makes it so good.. it's just one of those really watchable series.
She just kind of lights up the screen and you can't wait to see what she does next.

industry looks good first 2 episodes
Tin Star incoming Too. ✊

The soundtrack is good as well.
