JFC being back is a bright spot, ditto the CHs, ditto Aneke starting. JFC and Aneke are going to have to do a lot of heavy lifting with regards creating stuff today

Really pleased to see JFC back

I think he brings a lot to the side.
Yup and is massively underrated as people prefer shinny new toys ever Christmas....

    Charlton:

    Amos;
    Gunter, Pearce (C), Famewo, Maatsen;
    Watson,
    Pratley, Forster-Caskey,
    Gilbey;
     Aneke, Washington

Subs: Maynard-Brewer, Matthews, Purrington, Morgan, Henry, Williams, Bogle

Not sure about this... Where is Maddison? Williams is no better from what I've seen.

    Two LCB's 😕

Watson and Pratley in midfield again 😑

2nd loss on the spin locked on.

    2-1 Shrewsbury

    Shinnie?
    No Albie
    No pace
    No width
    I think I'll save myself £10.....
Shinnie injured against MK. Albie most likely rotated out after a couple of games back to back.
Morgan is what, 21 or 22?

He's never going to be fitter in the rest of his life than he is now.

I just don't understand why he can't play 3 games in a week
It’s not just a one off week though - it’s five games every two weeks, there’s eight games this month alone. This season is condensed and there’s going to be a lot more rotation needed than you would see in a regular season.
Take your point but Morgan has been one of our best players this last couple of weeks. He's young, fit and healthy. And there's no game next midweek, so he's got 7 days to recover.

Sorry, but just don't see why he needs to be rotated today.

That is a very very boring team.
I would have killed for boring in August

Bear in mind that Shrewsbury in recent experience have been a bit "agricultural". I think Pearce holds up to being strangled better than a lot of our players so fair enough he's in. if Shrewsbury try and play football we may be caught out, I suspect Bows knows they won't. At least I hope so.
I'm surprised and frustrated Morgan is on the bench, but can't imagine JFC will last 90.
We dont have a game midweek so be shocked if Morgan doesnt get involved

Might also be an opportunity to push Aneke a bit further than usual

I don't like how Watson seems guaranteed a place in the 11, especially with how he played last week. He was woeful.

    Happy with the CBs
  • Disappointed that Morgan isn't starting. In my opinion you always start your in form players and at his age and this stage of his career he should be able to play every match.

I think we'll have enough today though and will get a scrappy 2-3 win.
  • 2000 Salopians will be at the game. Lets hope Doctor Who saves us

Morgan has been our best player last few games. Unconvinced with that line up. Hope I’m wrong.
The beauty us fans have is the fact we can make suggestion after suggestion, if its ignored and we lose them we can give Bowyer pelters - If Bowyer goes what we've been calling for and will still lose then those making those demands will simply say he should have done differently

Who gets the blame if Barker starts as we've been calling for, and we lose 5-0 with him making the mistakes...?

Who'd be a Football Manager!! - Thankfully our demands dont have consequences
I did not say barker to start should be in the 18 instead of Purrington and yes it would be bowers fault as said Caskey what the fuvk

I'm sure Morgan is capable of playing today. But I doubt Morgan has any say in the matter ..... that's Bowyer's decision alone.

I wasnt targetting you with my comment just a general consensus - We make all our demands of Bowyer... Yet if Bowyer did what you asked, would you hold you hands up and admit you'd got it wrong yourself to say that Bowyer should have matched your selection?

Or would you convienently forget that he'd matched your line up and find something else to complain about that Bowyer should have done?

Of course I'm not trying to shut down any debate... I just think people are too quick to jump down the Manager's throat, because at the same time we have to be careful when we bemoan match selections. We havent seen the players in training, we havent even watched Shrewsbury to find weaknesses or strengths that they could exploit with certain players of ours

Very true. I hope it works out but in fully expecting Albie to be introduced at some point during the game to give us abit more going forward

He was, but he was up against a literal child for most of the game

Pratley and Watson are there to protect the semi-fit centre backs I reckon. Second half there is the Morgan/Williams option to make the midfield more creative, and putting Purrington on and pushing Maatsen upfield.

First half the passing had better be good  because there is no carry in that midfield much beyond walking pace.

As usual, slow to start first half, wait for a rollocking half time before playing better in second half............or is that my imagination?

Having the centre halves back means Gunter and Maatsen can give us some much needed width and a little pace, especially if Pratley is part of a back three.
  • That is a very very boring team.
It’s Charlton Athletic it’s what we do

Watson was bad against Milton Keynes but i was most disappointed with Gilbey. the man who was supposed to create things and be our "box to box" player. thought he was dreadful. hoping today he will show that side of his game.

I fancy Gilbey to open his goalscoring account today.
  • Uninspiring team. Won't be watching today as on a 'staycation' at a nearby hotel. Don't think I'll be missing an entertaining game somehow but for those that are watching I hope I'm wrong
  • Bowyer looks to me to be playing a straight forwards 442...

                              Amos

    Aneke.   Washington.   Pratley.    Watson

    Pearce   Famewo.      Maatsen.   Gunter

                  JFC.              Gilbey

    would be my guess...

I fancy that starting 11   clean sheet in the bag and nick 2 or 3 goals
2.6ish on betfair is great value but seeing as I’ve given up gambling cos I’m shit I’ve got my mates who have a gambling problem to back us
problem is last time I thought we were value and got them to lump on it was Burton 🙄
