Just a reminder for everyone that Blackheath is royally fooked at the moment!

if you're driving down the A2, through the tunnel or through Blackheath or Greenwich, give yourself lots of extra time!

In fact if you go any where near those areas, give yourself lots of extra time!

good call - Greenwich has been pretty-much no-go since the roadworks started, the diversion routes are packed and the buses are wrecked too.

The Tina Turner gig will add pressure on the tunnel and public transport too.

Blackheath Hill and Shooters Hill Road by Rangers House are closed Kent-bound - traffic's being diverted either via Greenwich or via Lewisham and Lee. In practice, it's affecting travel in both directions.

There's also Thames Water works at the Woolwich Road/ Charlton Church Lane.

The road is closed kent bound from Blackheath Hill by the junction of Greenwich South Street all the way up to the big round about on the actual heath - Shooters Hill Road and the junction of Prince of Wales Road.

all the traffic is diverting through Greenwich which as the Inspector said, is a no go area!

yep its open from just past that junction - the roundabout a bit further up so you're fine going that way.

    causes me nightmares every morning.

yep, thats where I live. I have to cross all the roads that are affected. south circular, lee high road, get across blackheath then shooters hill road.

    advice - get a train.

The best train advice would be to get the DLR to Woolwich Arsenal, and come against the rush hour traffic to Charlton

well if i see Baldrick, i'll give him a dig for making my driving life a nightmare at the moment!

Isnt it about time they dug a big tunnel from New Cross to the sun in the sands for the traffic to go through?!

I drove to the ground for the first time in years tonight. Got from New Eltham to the industrial estate opposite the Horse and Groom via the A2 in about 20 mins and this was at 18:00!

    Left Sevenoaks at 6.00pm.

    Was parked up at 6.30pm.

Easiest drive in I've had for years.

I took the train and got stuck at Blackheath for about an hour after every train to Charlton kept getting cancelled or delayed. I will definitely be driving on Saturday after reading this.

the "misery train" (6.30 from Charing Cross) was crap as usual for a match night; shouting and pushing since it's only 8 cars long and so filled up by the time it got to London Bridge; usually avoid it on non-match nights because it's bad enough then.

News Shopper, perhaps a campaigning local newspaper should be picking up the cudgels on behalf of the pissed off train traveller instead of taking the car and adding to traffic jams :-)

apparently it kicked off at london bridge, there was a suicide somewhere along the dlr track which caused chaos at lewisham, and a mate had to wait 45 mins for a train at lewisham to charlton so would have missed 1/2 hour so he went home instead. He rang to see if kick off was delayed. there were a lot of people coming in after 20 mins i assume caught up in it.
