If we do get cut completely adrift, what the does Parkinson do in terms of team selection? Going to be very hard to lift a side that is heading for League 1 and is partly made up of loan players.

Give some of the youth team a start.

I've always been positive about us getting out of this but tonight, even I'm drained of optimism.

    Cardiff 3-Barnsley 1

Saints two up as well - another Euell goal...

At least Palace are losing 2-0 down vs Wolves.
  • Euell scores again. FFS could it get any worse...

They are only 7 points from 3rd bottom, more chance of them going down than us staying up

Gave up looking at the table around Christmas to be honest but even that thought doesn't raise a smile...okay maybe a small one but I just can't see it.

Why does Ambrose even get on the pitch.

    Do one.

Don't worry, we wont have to put up with him for much longer.

We better start building for League One next year next season lads and lasses. Game, set and match. I know it's still mathematically possible but my heart and head is now telling me that's it. With the way the results have gone around us and the others managing to scrap for points we are all but down. I just can't believe Norwich and Southampton have got results tonight.

Three on the spin for Saints. The sort of form we needed I'm afraid but we just can't do it.

Charlton 1- Doncaster 2...........such a familiar scoreline in the last two seasons. Just swap Doncaster with Barnsley, Colchester, Preston etc.......gutted.
  • All over now, we just do not have any quality up front to score goals in this league.

Dickson has not done it and Burton never will and we don't have anyone else except Kandol who is basically a League One player.

    Very, very depressing.
  • Dickson had an absolute nightmare.
Should have left the field earlier.
    The question is, who for?

Looking at Leicester they went down last season but pretty much kept their squad together, just as we did when we were relegated from the premiership a decade ago. Then we bounced straight back and Leicester look like doing the same.

Some belt tightening is going to be necessary, we lose the parachute money after all, but we need to keep the core of the team together. I suspect though that no reasonable offer will be turned down for any of the players.

wow....evening from a very depressed addick in the caribbean!now i have missed the whole season from october 1st onwards due to being over here, relying solely on the internet plus reports from my pessimistic father. I am always quite confident, i like having backs-to-the-wall-stand-up-and-be-counted situations, to me its what charlton is all about. i will keep supporting through whatever but even my heart is starting to give up. i will never accept it til it happens because i just cant mentally get my head around whats happened....but now i will eat my right bollock if we do it. sadly i think the likes of racon, shelvey (contracts dont matter nowadays), zz, dicko just to name a few will be gonners. Get rebuilding parky for next year please.

I seem to remember thinking that when we got relegated from the Premiership!!!

Be very surprised if Bailey stays. He's a goal scoring midfielder - which is impressive enough. Add that he's in a team bottom of the league and it makes him an attract player for other mid to top of the table Championship sides.

You're right though, we need to keep him, Racon and Spring together and fit for next season.

All three, plus Jonjo are major assets and will attract good offers if they go on the transfer list.

At least we have several players out of contract that will leave and reduce the drain on the wage bill.

But...on a day when the Sri Lankan cricket team were ambushed and several guards and a driver killed, not to mention several Sri Lankan cricketers being wounded I just can't get upset at our demise. What happened this morning in Pakistan to another group of sportmen puts this in some context to me. Yep I'm gutted that we're going down, but it's only football, it isn't life or death.

Dickson had a mare for a supposed clinical finisher but even so won the corner that led to Bailey's goal and generally offered more of a threat than any other striker we've played this season -not that that means much!

Racon was inhibited after his booking which was understandable given that it was that t**t Styles reffing.

When he was on I wasn't too sure what Spring was offering but once he went off we were markedly worse for about 10 minutes so he was doing something.

Had Racon's superb stike been allowed to stand I think we'd be celebrating a victory such are the fine margins in this league.
