Before the game Lee Bowyer said: “We’ll approach the game trying to win it".
But with that starting line up, you didn't try to win it, did you Lee?6 -
stoneroses19 said:Bowyer on VP continued:“1-0 you’ve always got a change, Pratley has let us down”
”Both goals they hit us on the break.”
”Disappointing we’ve lost Pratley for 3 games”
“We’ve only got Oshilaja left, so he’ll get his chance now”
They hit us on the break? That's like the number one way to score. Higher possession is pointless when we're not winning.0 -
An absolute crock of shit - it is no good setting up defensively if you haven't got any f*cking defenders. Surely you mitigate injuries to key defenders by keeping the opposition busy at the other end. This is a pub league, make no mistake about that - but I'm still not sure we have the means to rise above it. It is either an inspired transfer window needed or a complete rethink. How to ruin a Saturday!19

I wonder if any fans will ever put their hand up and admit they're wrong if he costs us... HAHA!!
Sorry mate but this is a bit weird. Oshilaja isn't good enough but he's a centre back so should play ahead of a centre midfielder, that's it. He most probably will fuck up.

Set up with that or something like it and I think the outcome would have been different.Watson and Pratley out though should improve things.2 -

I'll say it now as things are Bowyer is not going to get us promoted be it this season or next3 -
Our players are better than their recent performances. 10 points from 9 games. It is pathetic.
With Pratley suspended we at least now have the chance to play a back 4 all in their correct positions but I suspect we won't.
Just an awful performance, no tactics, no plan, no confidence.

I’m not calling for Bowyer to go, but if he doesn’t stop publicly blaming the players and start taking responsibility for his decisions, he’s going to lose the dressing room, the supporters and the owner.
It appears he’s well on his way to losing the first two already judging by some of the comments on here.11 -
If your reading this TS, we are not playing good attacking football, in fact it’s piss poor. Please either tell LB to sort it out or please replace him.
Over to you.2 -

Lee Bowyer picking out players on stream. Not happy with Prately. Deji now going to get his chance apparently. Disappointed with Bogle miss.Too many players out of position. Playing Bogle upfront with no pace or creativity in midfield was flawed. Persisting wiht Prately at centre back was was another. This has not being working for weeks. Then at the start of the 2nd half having corrected some of the players out of position, Prately gets sent off in a lame sending off and that that's the end of it. Terrible performance all round.I love Lee Bowyer for what he has done for the club, but I really don't understand what he is trying to achieve. Lee Bowyer expects a lot from his players (and crowd), he needs to hold himself to account for the dismal team set ups.8

Think Bow is in trouble,
When asked what he was going to do in midweek to prepare for the Accrington game he replied with "much of the same"2 -

Bowyer's solution to that is to play about 5 players in the wrong position.
Keep it simple Lee
Right back at right back
Left back at left back etc.
You never know it might work.13 -
Astonished that the majority of Charlton Life seem to want Bowyer out ... fortunately it would appear that Thomas does not agree with you.8

Can’t wait for quest tonight!1

That is the sort of team selection and performance that gets managers the sack. Starting with four players out of position was not a smart play and Bowyer’s predilection for playing one-paced, one-dimensional midfielders was only ever realistically going to have one outcome.
We were a shambles at the back and slow and predictable in midfield. As well as omitting one of our few flair players, Maddison, Bowyer compounded matters by taking off Albie Morgan, who was, in my view, probably our best performer on the day.
We created next to nothing and poor old Bogle turned in one of the worst 45 minutes I’ve ever seen from a professional footballer. Josh Davison could certainly not do worse.
Pratley’s red card put the tin hat on a dismal afternoon and we gave Hull - who had lost 3 games on the bounce and were forced into 5 changes following a Covid outbreak - probably their most comfortable afternoon of the season. A truly atrocious performance.
There are certainly very real questions about Lee Bowyer’s position. His stubbornness is leading him down a rabbit hole and he is demonstrably not getting the best out of this group of players.

Indeed I'd go as far to say as if they were both fit, we probably wouldnt see Matthews at left back.
However, I still don't think we would play good consistent football, and we would still not dominate teams. We never really have under Bowyer - but that does not matter so much when your winning.1 -
Zero experience of playing professional football, but it must destroy players confidence like Purrington & Deji when they can’t into the side and manager prefers to play players out of position instead of players in their correct positions.12

Another waste of a tenner! Bogle slower than a 3 legged carthorse, makes Mike Small look a decent player (older Addicks will know what I mean). Bogle and Washington must be the worst 2 strikers we've had for years and I go back to 1960. Did their keeper have one save to make. Smyth kept falling over and no control. Only positive comment I can make is that Matthews played better in the second half in his correct position. Pratley sending off pure stupidity, Hull player putting him away to the linesman. At least without Watson and Pratley we may have a stronger team. Players maybe except Amos and Williams should hang their heads in shame!2

If our injured players had been fit for the last 6 games we would be top 2 a fact and LB would be still popular amongst the Charlton Sceptical dept.
my only concern is why do we get so many injuries at critical times? Is our coaching dept missing something.
over to you Thomas because we need assistance till
our winning squad returns to it original magnificent
form 👍👍👍2 -

Bowyer if he's sacked will go back to his fishing, same he'd have happily have done in the summer when ESI were at the height of their nuisance
Supporters wont think for a second that they've shown very little patience on the other hand themselves6 -

Bowyer can criticise the players- but he's the one who signed them. If you keep playing players out of position, why are you surprised when they don't look good? If you don't play Maddison who'd been playing really well, why are you surprised when we look inept going forward?
Our form is fast approaching that of relegation contenders- we're setting up to draw games over and over, and then Bowyer seems surprised when we do not win them.3 -
Pratley let us down,Bowyer struggling to prove he isn't just a mid table div 1 manager,we was dismal today

Two poor goals says Lee?
They could’ve scored 6. We maybe could’ve had 1 at best.5
