Millwall fans loved Gritty when he was in charge there for a bit. Not so sure myself. Both legends with too much respect and affection to be lost for my liking. No someone new.0

Economics and risk . We cannot afford another failure.
Gritty did wel with Curbs and don't forget the job he did at Brighton in saving their league status.0 -
Gritty lives up to his name, and Kins has the same battling qualities.
But what worries me is the apparent lack of football intelligence and tactical nous within the team, where we're frequently out-thought and out-witted by opponents.
So perhaps we need a thinking man, too ... ?0 -

To be honest i think we can do better.
I think we need to consider the whole structure because we have gone from producing a youth team that plays football to a hoof and run outfit, The ressies under kins was the same

Don't forget as of May, we will be a third div team. That means that there is about 40 teams above us that would be more attractive to some managers.

Gritt never was and never will be the right man for the job. Richard Murray realised this when he made Curbs the sole manager.
Another problem is this misconception that a good manager for Charlton should be "Charlton through and through". The sad fact is that we are an average club with (apart from this season) average players and average staff. Richard Murray got extremely lucky when he appointed Curbs as manager. Since then Murray has made a complete hash of his managerial choices.
I don't think that Murray has a good footballing brain, and unless he once again gets lucky we will continue to have second rate managers who cannot find another club to take them on.0 -

The reserves played attractive and successful stuff with Glyn Snodin and then, Mark Robson.
The kids played their best football with Damien Mathew.
Are any of these the peoplewho we would look to add footballing intelligence and tactical nous as part of a Charlton management 'triumvirate' ....or is there too little experience?
Battling qualities are necessary ingredient of any successful side, but we could do with a football brain to add to the brawn.0 -

Oggy is right. The best football I have seen any Charlton team play over the last three years has been where Damian Matthew was in charge.0
