Probably not, but if he had signed or lined up some "projects" instead of, or as well as, the players he did sign it could/would/should be viewed differently.J BLOCK said:

When Inniss and Famewo are fit, we could well have sufficient cover - if they stay fit. But the games we play before they get fit, given where we are now are key to the season. Even if it is a loan, we need to address this issue urgently. Even if it is only needed for a month.MartinCAFC said:

The most games Innis has ever played in a season is 22 and Famewo 10. It's highly unlikely, even if they were back tomorrow, that they would both play the 22 odd games we have left. It would be prudent to assume at least of them won't be available most of most of the rest of the season.Covered End said:

Not sure it's as straightforward as that though. You'll always get injuries (Inniss' record isn't great) plus a lot of fixtures. Lots of football to be played, I don't think it would be particularly difficult to persuade someone to join.Covered End said:

Why not sign a young U21 CB as a project?
He can be thrown straight into the 1st team, blamed by Bowyer, villified by the fanbase and banished to the u23s.
Everyone will then be saying how good Pearce is and Bowyer was wrong to drop him.

No one was really concerned at the start of the season that Deji and Pearce weren’t good enough to be league 1 back ups for a season in league 1 and in those 10 days they did outstandingly to bring in 2 quality centre backs.
This is why we need to give Bowyer and Gallen more time and respect to get the squad together they want. They physically couldn’t have done more in the time they were given.13 -

Yeah, I said we should have signed four forwards better than Bogle, four better defensive midfielders younger and better that both Pratley and Watson, a better goal keeper than Amos, three attacking midfielders and two faster wingers than than Doughty, but with Premiership experience.Chunes said:

I’ll tell you who took any notice, bloody no one. It was obvious that if we did not do this we would struggle as soon as we got injuries and suspensions. I just have to accept that not everyone will have my insight.8 -

It’s a big rebuild because we’ll want somewhere around 18-22 or so first team players. I wouldn’t assume those with options to extend will be kept on or that no one under contract won’t be sold/loaned out either.
Now we might have made a mistake and given some of those players big contracts, I don’t know what they’re on. There’s no doubt though that we’ll have around 20 first team players even if some of them are cheap unknowns on very low wages.
I’d consider needing to sign around 10 players (or more) a big rebuild as that’s at least half a squad.3 -

The chap at Exeter fits the bill because he would be in the correct level for wages. We can't underestimate the appeal we, as a club, still have. Many people want to live in and around London and we are still very much a big fish in this pond. We CAN still attract the better players from L1 and L2 so we have to use that to our advantage.
Lincoln have had a fantastic season thus far. I would hope they run out of steam but their recruitment has been very astute. They have concentrated on younger players and have forged a great togetherness and that's critical to getting out of this division. We could do a lot worse than looking at their model.
If we don't go up we need to act immediately at the end of the season. For so many years we are chasing the leftovers and clearly we don't get best value with them. We need to clear the decks of the unwanted players and we need to make signings straight away so that when we start pre season we have a full squad from day one that is young and bristling with potential with a few older, wiser heads thrown in.13
