What am I missing? The umpire said it was not out, and the DRS review showed it to be 'umpire's call'. It was a perfectly straightforward bit of umpiring. That's why you should have female umpires.
They can multi task and work out if its either a catch or an LBW.
Umpires calls are looking very bizarre in this game and the one dimensional checking of a wicket.

The decision was unlucky for India, but that's the umpires call rule. It wasn't a howler by the umpire, as if that was the case then it would have hit him in front of the stumps and been given out

Football can definitely learn from Rugby when it comes to discipline.

Has Covid meant that the Match Referee is watching from home ?
Joe just shock his head when he was frustrated but Kohli is pushing it with his antics by getting up to his old tricks of being centre of attention. Even the running on the wicket and arguing about that.
Kohli isn't subtle, but is a world class player with a gigantic ego. When he didn't walk in the first innings when being bowled was very entertaining.0 -
I find footballers surrounding a ref absolutely abhorrent. But I think arguing with an umpire on the field is significantly worse. The behaviour and influence of the captain is codified into the Laws of the game.killerandflash said:

Kohli's actions should earn him demerit points. But that's even less likely than Stuart Broad's mammoth innings steering England to a comfortable win tomorrow.0 -
Got to give a lot of credit to ashwin..hes by far the best bowler on show .Unfortunately playing with a closed bat face /across the line will work if you are a genius like viv Richards but it wont work for burns ,sibley and Lawrence.Crawley and bairstow will face the same issues if they come in
Modern day bats make it much easier to have success playing this way until you come across top class bowling2 -

I knew all the umpires including the TV umpire were from India but couldn't the Match Referee have been from Yorkshire to balance it up. Dicky Bird could watch from Barnsley, as long as he could remember where he left his glasses.
