    You've all missed Anti Niemi. Kicked his heels in the reserve before signing permanently for Hearts and then quickly going to Southampton for a huge profit. Shame we didn't get him at a time that Deano was right at the top of his game

    Steve Stacey on loan from Ipswich. He think he has the highest goals per game ratio of any player ever.....1 game 1 goal. Not bad for a defender.

    From memory he played twice - as you say when JH was injured, then he went back to the Mackems. So as he was signed as a temporary cover and he played in what way was his signing "pointless"?


    I think he played once. got turned over at home (Arsenal ?) and they sent him back. I was availa ble at the time and I could've done better.

    Seem to remember Sasa going on loan there, playing one game, letting in four - and getting sent straight back!

    Antti Niemi was on trial wasnt he as opposed to on loan?

    Yep I think it was one match and it was Arsenal - a rainy October/November day at Selhurst as I recall. We lost, Johnnie H recovered from his injury and Agboola was put back on the next train to Sunderland.

    Didn't we once have David Kerslake on loan - he only ever got as far as the bench for one game if I remember rightly.
