Parky's Contract

the SLP suggested the other day in a bit with Parky that his contract ran until the end of the season, in fact Parky was quoted as saying such. Not so. It appears it runs until 2010. Maybe he meant his 'contract' as Manager runs until the end of the season but we were told that he was working under the terms of his 'old' contract when appointed Manager so to suggest it is up at the end of the season is wrong unless it was re-negotiated and we were not told. Any ideas ?

It has always been said that he is on the same contract (wages and expiry date). Nothings changed, still ends in June 2010.

I thought he was quoted as saying he's not thinking about if he's still going to be here, just concentrating on the next game, one game at a time and all that.

Kinsella's is up at the end of the season.

    from the SLP :

CHARLTON manager Phil Parkinson says he isn’t giving much thought to whether he will still be at The Valley next season.

The former Addicks assistant’s long-term future is unclear - the contract he agreed when taking over from Alan Pardew in December expires in the summer.

But his experience of life in League One, where he steered unfancied Colchester to promotion in his first managerial role, could see him handed a new deal.

Parkinson, though, is remaining tight-lipped about his future. “I’m manager until the end of the season and I don’t want to talk too much about my position beyond that,” he said.

Before Pardew was disposed of, Parky's existing contract expired June 2010.

Evidently nothing has changed on that front, except that he has also been contracted to manage the team on a temporary basis until the end of the season.

Should he not be permanently appointed, he will either be retained at the club should a new manager want him or be asked to leave - and the club would be obliged to pay up his remaining term of contract.

Or not. What do I know ... ?

'manager until the end of the season'!!!!!.....THAT LONG ?????? Sheesh, lets re-position the man to scout and pre-match warmer upper, and get somebody better in now. or at least let it be known that the position is vacant and see the response.....why wait until May? Parkinson has had a chance, and even with the restrictions he has worked under has proved to be ....................

    I would guess it's either

''his own man and kind to animals''

    OR

''exactly what everyone expected, apart from the board''

although it could be both, I suppose !
