Just reading an interesting article on BBC Sport. Wigan have lost 7 prem games in a row (8 games if you include pompey in the cup). If they lose tonight that will be 8 prem games without a point. That has happened 9 times in the past (though sunderland have the distinction of losing 8 or more prem games in a row twice) and in all but 2 cases the team were relegated. History is therefore not on Wigan's side, especially with their upcoming fixtures:

Reading(A)
Pompey(H)
Arsenal(A)
Man City(A)
Fulham(H)
Charlton(A)

    sunderland (9 and 20)
    leicester
    us
    palace
    ipswich
    wimbledon
    boro
    man city

only leicester and boro have lost 8 on the spin and survived. Leicester because O'Neill did his thing and boro because they probably spent their way out of trouble I'm guessing.
