    They do crack me up, all talking themselves round that the appointment of dowie is a good one "well shearer must know wot he's doing, i think they played at southampton together, and dowie is a perfect choice and a great coach" blind love is great...........

    Maybe this will be one job where Dowie manages to see out the season. Wonder if he'll recommend Faye to come in on loan.

    I am a geordie lass so know how much Shearer is loved by the Toon, but this is madness. When will Newcastle learn to act with their heads rather than their hearts. And Dowie as #2!! if only things were different i would have loved to go to a Newcastle v Charlton championship game

    he'll have them dragging massive blocks in training and getting hamstring problems then, as well as getting lost on training runs - Newcastle is a madhouse enough already.

    i believe it is only because King Bottler Kev was unavailable.
    As one of the papers said - its best possible time for Shearer to try his hand there as if they go down it's not Shearers fault, and if he keeps them up the legend is increased.
