When were seats first put in the Covered End?

Been trying to remember. I'm sure I first moved there from the East Terrace in the 80/81 season (promotion from Div 3 under Mike Bailey), and that it was certainly standing to begin with. But the seats must have been put in not long after that from what I can recall - perhaps even during that season.
Does anyone know for definite?

Okay, next question. Remember the big fences, the ones put up to prevent players invading the terraces - when did they first go up?0 -

A couple of years before the seats, I think0 -
They were only at the Covered end, weren't they? I remember invading the pitch at the end of the 80/81 season by climbing over the little railing from the small terrace next to the West Stand.0

They were all around except for the main stand I think. I would say 79.0

Can't have been along that bit of terracing in May 1981, or I would never have managed to get on the pitch. In fact, I half think that the only reason we didn't invade from behind the goal was because of the police there, rather than beacause of fences, but that may be my memory playing tricks.0 -
the big fences weren't on the small terraces to the left or right of the west stand or the west stand itself.... all around the rest of the ground can't remember them going up0

Racking my memory now. I think I stood at the front of the East behind the little railing for Paul Walsh's debut which was Sept 79. But I might be wrong...
Those big fences were horrible things, but its funny that we barely remember them being there.0 -
I remember an ex-colleague of mine who was a Leeds fan and when I worked with him in the late 80's always remarking that he loved going to the Valley as the visiting supporters got a seat and he coudn't think of too many grounds before Hillsbrough where that happened.0

Seats were in The Covered End before The Jimmy Seed, I remember standing in The JS when the CE had seats put in0

Remember being allowed in the seats behind the goal at Ayresome Park when it rained half way through our 3-1 win (Mark Stuart good solo goal...Lennie Lawrence promotion season). Top coppers that day.....served us hot soup at half-time from the back of their van. Anyone else remember that?0 -

Remember it well.
Although there was only a few hundred of us, there was hardly anything available as the coppers said they had guessed our numbers on what Palace had taken earlier in the season.0 -

The main pitch perimeter fence went up in the summer of 1979 on three sides of the pitch. Prior to that they had put a near-horizontal steel net inside the old red fence in 1976 an effort to stop kids invading the pitch after a goal.0 -

I was going to be flippant here and say something like "every time Millwall visited in the seventies" - but that would have been when seats were taken OUT of the covered end...0

Take all the seats back out again, but just the ones in the bottom bit of the Covered End, the original bit!!

The little terraces wither side of the West Stand di not have the big fences, but did go quite along way below the pitch level, can remember giving the linesman loads when we nearly beat Ipswich in the FA Cup season was that, 2-0 with 20 mins played?0
