Can't see us going down as Soton, Barnsley, Donny and Forest look worse.

I also think that we're better than Cardiff and Sheff W who are now 4th and 5th.

In other words the league is the same as last season and is extremely tight. I reckon we're heading for mid table.

I just can't see there being 3 worse teams at this time, the next week is crucial.

It's not looking good at the moment, but come on guys, it's not even Christmas yet. We'd consider it totally unacceptable if the team had given up already, so it's a bit rich of us to do it ourselves.

Maybe, maybe not. Gloriously unpredictable as ever, that's my Charlton. I'm certainly not going to be going round saying "Doomed! We're all DOOOOOMED" on the basis of something that hasn't actually happened yet.
  • that's right ali,we are not in a relegation battle until March.and god help anyone who says so

No side is ever too good to go down individual players may seem to be too good to go down and they are sneaky by having causes in their contracts

stay positive it'll make deon burton score, it'll make mcleod our saviour, it'll turn crap players into footballers..
we've got a new man in(parkinson) he has had nothing whatsoever to do with the team b4 he has a 2 year plan give him a chance , just remember this time last year we were 5th.......
even tho we played crap and got 3 points at donny we improved at plymouth birmingham and qpr so things are looking up...
there's no point being negative cos we've got to stay positive so that if things do go wrong we can be let down even more...
we've over performed since 1980 so we've got to all be realistic bottom in this league is a result....
the season doesn't end till may so don't even think about having a negative/realistic opinion cos if we stay positive we won't get relegated from the prem may2007
we'll get in the play offs may 2008
we're too good to go down may 2009???

it's only a game, it doesn't really matter...........

    aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

Are we too good to go down? Have we learnt nothing? The question should be; "Are we good enough to survive in the Championship?" The answer, I fear, is the same in both cases anyway-NO!

There are some people out their basking in the warm glow of satisfaction of being proved right.

    ;o)
  • there are also some people that never believed in the relegation monster, and dealt with the threat of its existence by pulling the covers over their heads and hoping it'd be gone in the morning.

    nearly forgot

I believed in the relegation monster alright.

But I didn't quite understand why half the players would lay down and die without a fight.
And why everybody gave up at Xmas, with half a season left to play for......?

    ;o)
  • Too good now perhaps but not for 75% of the season.

Better than Palace for the past 3 months.

And a few other teams too.

It was the mid-season run before that did for us, lol
A bit like our 1999 relegation with a long winless mid-season run.

I think the club signalled they had given up when they gave Parkinson the job after showing no improvement whatsoever in his trial period. The fans kept the faith a little bit longer, but that week we lost to Donny and Watford finished it off IMO. Parkinson approaches games like Curbs did when he had 35 points and wanted to get over the line, which is fine if you need 5 points for safety, but not a lot of good in our current predicament. I know you can do anything with statistics, but even if you take our last 10 games, we've still only got 8 points from them which is still relegation form.
