Summer Transfer Window - Non Charlton Signings / Rumours (Dday from p43)

The Madrid bid is just a ploy, to show Mbappé they are serious about signing him, so he'll sign a pre contract agreement in January with a massive signing on fee.

Crazy to think that if one of the bigger clubs play their cards right, they could have both Haaland and Mbappe for a combined £65m next summer, at 22 & 23.

Obviously £800k a week is crazy, but then half of football wages are barmy, look at Messisl's £2m a week, Griezmann on £700k etc.

Can't believe we wouldn't pay what they wanted.......1 -
for that read - Man City have indicated to me privately that they are not prepared to pay the asking fee0
-
City will surely go all out to get Haaland next summer then.

It would be amusing if City buy Herbie Kane and say that he was the H Kane they actually wanted, and it was all a misunderstanding3

Said it once, I'll say it a million times, Harry Kane is too boring to ever leave Tottenham. He seems like the kind of bloke who has been eating the same breakfast for the last 20 years and loves nothing more than fish fingers at his mum's on a Thursday night.9

Once City got Grealish it was obvious Kane wasn't on their radar.
Now, they can probably go and sign Cristiano Ronaldo for a third of the cost of Kane, sell a lot more shirts and hold out to sign Haaland next summer, or the summer after that2 -

By contrast Chelsea were a great team lacking a world class No 9, so they brought one in.
Great if they can bring in CR7 of course1 -

I would love it if City swooped in for Mbappe, i dont really see how Madrid could buy him without something dodgy behind the scenes. Or alternatively Ronaldo would be a great signing but cant really see him going to City, one year of Ronaldo & Messi together would be brilliant but shame it would be for PSG the dodgiest fuckers about, horrible team0 -

Burnley as ever talking about spending money, but you do wonder. Especially when they've just re-signed Aaron Lennon, who's been in Turkey for a year0 -

Would be pretty funny to see United fans spitting feathers.
I get that he was absolutely incredible for them but he used them as a stepping stone, sulked and whinged until he got his move to Real & had his best years there before Real made a profit on him. He's also used/has his agent place rumours of him going back to United before to put pressure on Real to get new contracts, so basically using their fondness for him to line his pockets.
I'm always surprised he's such a big hero there still, maybe this will kill it.
Think he'd be great for City for a year or two then, everyone else can do the hard work and his clever movement up top will get him in the right place and the right time for a lot of tap-ins.1 -

A 36 year old Ronaldo makes more sense to them because of their fondness for rotating the squad.
Cristiano, JesusGrealish, SterlingFoden, De Bruyne, SilvaFerran Torres, Mahrez
Probably means one of Silva or Mahrez moves on, but that is an embarrassment of riches0 -
Well Man City might be in for a new left back...2
