But at the same time their recruitment has been abysmal. Chambers, Holding, Pablo Mari, Soares are all not good enough. Do they really need Ramsdale? White will be a good player but for 50m they needed to be buying someone who can command the centre of defence. Willock went on loan and scored 8 in 14 games for Newcastle. Did they decide to keep him and see what he could do for them........nope, sold him for 25m and spent 30m buying Odegaard who scored 1 in 14 on loan for them last season.

Give it 1-2 years and if this mess doesn't improve, you can bet that City/Chelsea will be in for Saka and Smith-Rowe. Why would they stay?1
