    Not owned any of those but ridden the G5, Z400 and Z650. Owned a Z1A, in fact it featured on Top Gear when Steve Berry used it as a backdrop to the ZRX1100(?) review.

    I like the idea of a modern Bonneville or a Royal Enfield 650, but don't see me getting one. Perhaps a laverda Monjuic or a Z1300 could be next.

    I wish I'd kept my 1972 cb500f and my 1979 GL1000.

    My one regret is the value of the Z1 has shot up since we sold it. Mrs TT always said that we should keep it, but I was happy to sell it on and it funded a low mileage XS1100 and a car deposit. We got our money back at just over £6k but we never buy our bikes to make money. Bloody good job as we wouldn't eat.

    Rubbish photo, but this was the day we had it delivered and completely rebuilt by Z Power, so effectively a new bike.

    The Z1 I went on belonged to my girlfriend's sister's boyfriend.  When he bought it, it had green and gold paint (I think that may have been original) and the previous owner had the first verse of Stairway to Heaven on the tank in gold lettering.  Very naff but when he resprayed it in pale and dark blue it never seemed the same bike.

    It's still a great looking bike, fifty years after they came out.  But a single disc at the front and a drum at the back - what were they thinking?

    I won't be using E10 in any of my motorbikes as they date from 1952, I won't even risk it in my 2018 bike.

    Luckily the van and car are diesel.

    filled up with Super Unleaded the other day - it's E5 so no problem.

    I really felt the power increase. 0-60 was down to 2 minutes 34 seconds and top speed is up to 64 mph.

    Did cost a fortune!

    It's only 4 per cent more expensive so since we started this discussion I've switched to  98.

    My bet is that the increased fuel efficiency is more than 4 per cent, and it must be better for the engine.

    It would be interesting to see a real study on this.
