I don’t vote Conservative but he was a likeable member of the party and seemed very nice man.
He has made a few lovely speeches at Remembrance Sunday in St Johns Church.I thought earlier in the year, when he stepped back, it was a worrying sign.
RIP James and thanks for serving us4 -
Died too young from a horrible illness. As a confirmed left-winger I think he seemed like a decent man and by no means the worst of his party. If more there were more like him the world would be better. RIP.1

Terribly sad news which has upset me today. James opened our newly redesigned dementia ward at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup a few years back and was a fantastic supporter of Older People Mental Health Services locally. I found him to be lovely, genuine, passionate and likeable man which clearly can’t be said for a large number of UK politicians. It’s just not fair, is it?!RIP fella & best wishes sent to his family who can be very, very proud of his achievements and positive impact on many local people in a life cut far too short.10

James was a really nice decent bloke , a West Ham fan who cared about people and less about his own ego and ambitions, too nice to be a politician , the Chris Powell of politics, is the best compliment I can pay him.
It was in his blood his dad was a councillor, really feel for his wife and kids, gone too soon and a big big loss, miss you James.5 -

Good to hear the personal comments on James Brokenshire as he appeared to be a genuinely decent man who was well respected across the political divide.
Cancer doesn't care about your politics, age, gender, sexual orientation or Ethnicity.

I abhor the current government, and I am a life-long Labour voter. Even so, saw James genuine admiration of the NHS and its staff at several events (I work locally in the NHS). Gone too soon, and clearly a good human. RIP.1

My political affiliation is irrelevant, as is any other comment I may weirdly make outside of a simple RIP.

stop_shouting said:Was my MP when I lived in Sidcup and filled the shoes of Ted Heath for the constituency. Heard his cancer had come back but had no idea it was terminal. RIP
Anyway, sad news to lose one of the few trustworthy politicians. RIP James.0 -
I met him a couple of times in my professional capacity. He was always polite , attentive and valued our work. He appeared to be without real ego. He was also instrumental in helping my son secure his PIP. A decent man in all regards I feel
