An Evening With Alan Curbishley

To everybody that was there, hats off.
A lovely evening.
Curbs is a living legend.
Scotty Minto is such a good host.

To my wife who approached Thomas' wife I love you dearly and thanks for sorting a match on the Chairman's table (I lost the auction bid)

Thomas' missus was lovely and I'll report back on the day.  Johnnie Jackson queued to get in.  Every fan in the building let it be known Thomas needs to give him the job.

We're getting our Charlton back.  Little by little.

It was a great night indeed and I did feel a bit sorry for Steve Brown getting the piss taken out of him constantly for his dress sense 😀

Brilliant night - got in at 1.00am - my head hurts - don’t care - all the players and managers very happy to chat and have photos - Curbs brilliant (kept apologising for swearing during his interview with Scotty 😂) - Scotty so slick as compère - I told Lennie that the West Stand should be renamed after him, as without him there would be no CAFC - he thought that a bit OTT !!!

And I got to meet @Swisdom

I have lots of photos, but won’t post them as I look progressively more and more pissed as the night went on

In that case, you've got to post them!

You definitely look sober with TS - with Carlo you were well on your way, and with Jacko the vacant look is to the fore!

    Great pictures :)

If that happened in the dressing room today I wouldnt be surprised if there were tears and accusations of workplace bullying flying about!

Great pics of managers, past and present
(Fingers crossed)  but can anyone post the picture of the laundry basket when Karel Freye popped out and said nice words about his hero Curbs.
So funny when a wag in the audience said are Nigel Adkins 25 clean sheets in the basket.
  • Fabulous photos 🤩

Oh - ok - here you are - they are not in the right order - it was Sandgaard first, the Darren Bent, then Carlo, then Powell and Lennie and finally Jacko - and yes I did tell Thomas that Jacko should be appointed permanently
Was that before or after you kissed?

The people who I hope said Jackson deserves a chance to have  the managers job is Curbishley, Powell and Lawrence who were all managers under different circumstances but all had success at various levels in the top 3 tiers.

Thomas knows the fans are fickle so more important that 3 wise old football guys  (sorry Chris as you are still a England coach) but their endorsement will carry more weight than fans, some of whom were telling Thomas to get rid of Adkins and his coaching staff including Johnnie and Jason, before the caretakers job was given to JJ.

If Thomas doesn't tap into Chris, Lennie and Alan's wealth of knowledge then it would be a waste. All 3 cut their managers teeth at Cafc.
JJ is one of the easiest people to understand when he talks football and what he requires from his players. At 39 he is ready for the challenge, many of us want it at Cafc; I'm still not sure that is a Shay Given as Roddy's words keep resonating in TS ears about the template for success with a committee selecting players, 4-3-3 being the favoured formation and black box data which most teams even lower down have a similar process. VEO cameras on a long poll are used in step 5 matches way down the pyramid and the network of information is garnered by coaches, players and managers even if no black box is used.

I trust Thomas Sandgaard didn't just have a good meal.

@Lordflashheart great pictures. I can edit your post to put them in the right order if you'd like :) I'm guessing Scott was early to mid range?

Was Richard Murray in attendance or is he persona non grata in 2021 ?

Nope - he wasn’t there - and I haven’t seen him at a match for ages either

I assumed that would be the answer because Dickie backed the wrong horse and despite being close to Curbs over the years maybe Alan's leaving wasn't as amicable as we are led to believe. Murray may have gone back to his first favourite team Wolves ?

I think it was very amicable from AC's point of view and it was what RM decided. Part of what soured things afterwards was the amount of money Dowie was given and squandered, since it was more than Curbs ever got. No question Curbs is much closer to Varney, which of course won't be a plus with RM.

No problem. It's actually really easy to do on here, as you can just drag and drop them, although with big pictures I find it quicker to add alt text labels and cut and paste the code. I've also resized them slightly to make them a little more manageable.
I assume the video in this tweet is the same one as the Facebook one linked up there, but who's that walking up between Brownie and Carlo?
