Charlton Athletic are hosting their next PSA Testing day on Saturday 19th February at the game against Oxford United.

Prostate cancer is now the 3rd most common cancer in the UK.

Early diagnosis is crucial but symptoms do not usually appear until the prostate is large enough to effect the urethra. Please share this booking link far and wide to your grandad’s, dad, brothers, uncles sons etc. These testing days really do save lives.

What is a PSA Test? The PSA test is a blood test that can help diagnose prostate problems, including prostate cancer. Read HERE for more information

When: 12pm - 3pm Saturday 19th February

Where: Casino in the West Stand

Who: It is primarily aimed at those aged 45 and over (however also open to those younger).

Cost: A £10 donation is requested. The Barry Kilby Prostate Cancer Appeal will fund the remainder of the tests’ costs.

How to Book:- Please find below the link that is needed to book an appointment for the test day. It’s really easy and takes a couple of minutes.

Unfortunately we are no longer able to accept on the day bookings.

@tracey asked me to post this which I was more than happy to do but now she needs your help in spreading the news on facebook, twitter, Instragram, Tik-Tok, down the pub, at work or where ever it might reach a at risk man, which is any of them.

There will be a story on the official site but for once don't wait until WIOTOS, spread the news and make this a success.

Given the difficulty in getting non-urgent attention from GPs this is a very timely and welcome offer. I've just booked a slot. Many thanks to the club for the initiative and to @Tracey and @Henry Irving for publicising.

  • I swear I ask this every time this comes around as keep forgetting.

What sort of Age bracket would you advise this being done for?

  • Well done @Tracey and @Henry Irving. Test booked. Even showed me the results of the last two tests I had with them.
  • Covid had led to me giving up on the return of PSA testing at the Valley, and I have just booked one online, with the testing kit arriving by mail yesterday.

I know that the request is to donate £10 but I would advise you all that this is a bargain since i have paid 2.5 times this for the home testing kit.

Therefore if you can see yourselves able to pay more than £10 , please do, since it will cost the charity that operates this much more than £10 to process the test and provide the staff to take the sample. A very worthy cause.

Booked test. Should have done this years ago.
Many thanks to those who organised this.

Which test kit are you using @Scratchingvalleycat as I'm overdue a PSA test and don't want to bother my GP right now. Is it straightforward?

My Dad got a PSA test, mainly because he watches Soccer Saturday most weeks, it saved his life.

If your over 45 or at risk, do it.

Booked a test, thank for sharing the link, been meaning to do this for a while
  • I used to get this done as part of my fairly regular medical checkups in Thailand, so happy that this is happening at The Valley and I've booked.
  • As a result of getting my PSA tested last time(against Scunthorpe),I got the red letter, not going to bore everyone with details but I had prostrate cancer, luckily for me,early detection eliminated surgery, although plenty of other things went on,and I am now down to 6 monthly check ups, which so far have been clear.I had no symptons and to say I was shocked  was an understatement.Gentlemen,if any of you think you are immune to this killer condition, well, you are not.Get it done.

Don’t know how many of the 400 spots that were available have already been taken but the relatively few CL posters so far that have said they’ve booked theirs is surprising.
