It’s been said a few times but we can’t really say Burstow is an academy lad can we?1
-
Don't understand why we don't wait until the end of the season?0

No new information in the above. Chelsea made a bid, leading the race, no fee agreed yet.1 -

Chelsea could have signed him 2 years ago0 -

Think a club will get a deal done tonight as if not they will pay more in the summer. Plus if Mason has spoken to Chelsea and been offered xyz and it doesn’t get done well I can’t see him being too happy, I wouldn’t be in his position.0

So much for not selling our rising stars.
Bet the fee will be risable.
This just calls back to the Roland days of shipping a youth player out the moment a bid comes in.
234 minutes of League One football. That's all we will have seen of Mason Burstow. What's the point of the academy system when this shit happens?
Well the Q&A with Thomas will make for interesting listening. I'll certainly have questions....
We shouldn’t fall into the trap of just dismissing the importance of the academy off the back of a player leaving to go to one of the biggest clubs in the world.12 - Sponsored links:

Well the Q&A with Thomas will make for interesting listening. I'll certainly have questions....Yes, but we sold him. And at the end of the transfer window. In a era before Roland had even heard of us. Which was all I was pointing out - that we have sold good players late in transfer windows before during and after Roland. The inference was by doing this Sandgaard was following some kind of model first instigated by Roland. Which he isn't. And if it is some kind of model, then it wasn't new to the Roland era. We're a club that will nearly always end up selling our best players to a bigger fish. It's just a reality of the size of club we are.3 -

How's he allowed to talk to a club if we haven't accepted a bid?2 -

I’d love to see a much more level playing field, not just for the benefit of Charlton, but for the overall benefit and enjoyment of the game throughout the pyramid.
I don’t think the blame can be pointed at any individual linked to Charlton for that though. It would happen to any other club at our level.
As for the amount of minutes played by Burstow pre-sale…Well, I think this one is a bit of an exception. It’s not as if we sell young players this quickly each time they break through.6 -
Very confusing this evening0
-
I believe that we preferred James Beadle going to Brighton because Chelsea just wanted to make a one off payment with no add ons. I suspect that this is the case with Burstow - better for us to take a million or so less now with still the potential for £10m plus more in the future.1
-
I can see what’s happened here - they have offered too much and we are waiting for them to go lower.26

- They made a bid
- We didn't think it was high enough but thought they may come back with a higher (and acceptable) bid.
- As it's deadline day let him & his agent go and chat to them as there won't be any more time to do that if they do come back with a higher bid.
- They haven't. Yet.6 - Sponsored links:

I hate Jan 31 😔 deadline day5

Oh well... Wrong thread lol!0

I could understand this more if we were in financial difficulties. Come in late with a low offer and hope we jump at the cash. They should know that isn’t the case - if they really wanted him, you think they’d have made a move earlier.1

Martin Sandgaard has been pictured squeezing into Burstows shorts according to Sky….7

It’s good news that Thomas isn’t just accepting the first bid that comes in. We have a valuation and we stand by it.1 -

ForeverAddickted said:Very confusing this eveningWe've allowed him to talk and potentially agree his personal terms while we work on agreeing a fee. I imagine it's pretty standard when you have less than 24 hours to get the deal done, you must have to run certain pieces of it parallel.Of course, just because Chelsea have had a bid turned down doesn't mean there isn't another Premier League club in for him who may have matched our asking price.3
-
Best thing we can hear from Jackson in a minute is him saying that Burstow will be staying at the Valley till the summer
Then tomorrow slap a massive five year deal in front of him1 -
Think too many people play Football Manager in here. Mason can speak to any club with our permission, we don’t have to have accepted a bid for that to happen.
Given we are so close to the deadline, it makes sense to have it done this way. It gives Chelsea the maximum possible time to meet our valuation. But if they don’t, it sounds like he’s staying put.8 -
