I'm sad and disappointed it didn't work out for JJ. Club legend and someone we'd all want to succeed.

My one-word description of last season would be 'dispiriting' though. Injuries, bad start, threadbare defence that always seemed to leak a goal, caretaker-manager bounce before Xmas and then precious little to cheer after that. So no surprise TS made the decision that something had to be done.

As for the next guy, it has to be someone who can quickly decide who to keep and then identify who we can get in to push the remaining players on a bit. Easier said than done given that the players are all on their holidays now, so no chance of seeing them training for a while. Videos and the black-box are one thing but I suspect most managers would want to see how players work together to identify those that can help build a team spirit and those that are a bit moody. Maybe that's where JE comes in.

If it was me choosing then my heart says Curbs and Powell - one for grinding out results and the other for adding a bit of flair. However I'd be surprised if TS goes for anyone who hasn't had a management job for a while. He tried that, and then the club legend. Next one is more likely to be someone who has at least managed a promotion recently.

Of the names mentioned, there are way more on the list that I really wouldn't want to see in our dugout than I would. Darren Ferguson or Steve Evans, ? No way and no effing way for example.

Jacko showed his belief in the current set up with the amount of minutes he played loan signings he didn't choose.

But Jacko signed a contract agreeing to that 8th place finish. If he didn’t think that was achievable, he shouldn’t have signed

Only just seen this news. Shocked he has gone, but I sort of understand why. TS has a huge decision to make and get right!! 
I only hope the decision is made quickly so a new team can be built to push for promotion.

Sorry don’t buy that the vast majority of the blame doesn’t lie with Adkins for the start, the team had no identity, no clear style of play, and poor standards

Maths, this season you needed 80+ points to reach the playoffs. Being in the bottom 4 in late October meant getting into the top 10 was near impossible with the squad we had

Okay let's say he made 11th. It would probably have been more of a discussion. Fwiw the total to reach 8th this season was indeed abnormally high, but had we actually even made top half Jackson would imo have stayed. 

It's not just the points, it's how we pressed, how we reacted to certain things and as we all saw the overall quality of our play this season. 

I said I was on the fence with Jackson and had he managed to not get annihilated by Ipswich we might have made top half and I'd be feeling somewhat disappointed. 

Personally think the clean house approach should be the one we take, but that means we will likely take even longer to get promoted.

So the blame lies with someone that didn't buy the players and left 30 games ago?  I don't get that argument at all.

This 100%. Will be Adkins all over again if we get an experienced manager dropping down from the Championship. Not what we need at all.

I don't agree. I know I am in a minority, probably of 1, but it wasn't so much the appointment of Adkins that was the problem.  Or Adkins himself persay.  Not many managers would succeed with a back room staff prescribed to them and little say on recruitment. 

I still firmly believe that if he had the tools he could have made a fist of it.  I feel the same way about Jackson.  I will probably feel the same about the next one as well.  Let's not pretend that Adkins was some real left field appointment that was doomed from the start. 

I agree with a lot of this, but I do blame Adkins for the weird chopping and changing of formations and tactics, that was his fault. As much as you can blame TS for the summer and he was to blame for a lot of it, as a manager you still have to sometimes look past it and try and get the best out of the players you can. Instead of complaining about signings you didn't get. 

But as you've said in this structure I don't see it improving. A message to TS,

Let the manager manage and support him with a budget until no longer warranted.

Owners can have opinions and questions on signings as long as isn't overriding the manager completely.

They are also allowed to say no to signings with baggage imo, like if we signed Lee Hughes for example, but that's as far as it goes.

Oh I agree with the first bit and that's why he was rightfully sacked but I don't think he was given a fair crack.  I would imagine in hindsight he would agree he shouldn't have taken the job but you can't blame him for taking it.
