I think there is a case to be made for this.
Up until Ipswich away possibly TS was vacillating, but that performance, in front of him, and in front of loyal fans you hope would possibly buy season tickets may well have been the deciding factor.

that is not the action, or inaction, of a good businessman, I really do fear for the future of our club.
  • Is it acceptable to call people ginger and ginger twat now days.in our multi cultural politically correct society.
I think strawberry blonde twat is the new terminology these days.👍
  • that is not the action, or inaction, of a good businessman, I really do fear for the future of our club.
But everything is guess work and opinion, he was hardly going to come out and say “I was always going to sack JJ and we started the process a few weeks ago” was he?

I don’t think you understand the nature of football managers.
Ones that are any good I do.
  • Other than a little more charisma there doesn't seem a lot of difference between sandgaard and roland...you simply can't rewrite the rules on running a successful football club

You need to get out more and meet people.

Did you not read the great post by @Garrymanilow on the Jackson leaves thread, if not i respectfully  suggest you do.. B)
  • We could expect to get a better quality manager as the current situation makes it much less likely that a woman would get a management role of a men's team.  Therefore an employer's market.
There is no way a Woman would walk into the dressing room and smash teacups, she would calmly gather them up and place them in the dishwasher.

Warburton wasn’t on board with it, it was the reason he left.
It was pretty public at the time. I believe his last game on charge there was against us at The Valley in the Luzon era.
  • Seems to me that there's a huge element of luck involved as to whether any manager is successful at any given club.
Sometimes, it just works, sometimes you think someone will be a perfect fit, but it turns out to be a disaster.
With that in mind, why not just go with someone who has a great football knowledge, who cares about the club, and has a deep association with the club? Yes I know Johnny Jackson fitted that criteria and it hasn't worked out.
But what about Brownie? The players would be desperate to win just in order to avoid hearing him waffling on for hours on end after the game 🤣

Disagree, we know TS had names in mind even when Bowyer resigned. I heard Jackson was going at the end of the season in mid to late April, so it’s very unlikely TS hadn’t started the search until this week.

Whether he appoints the right manager and we get recruitment right are other issues entirely.

Not entirely true - he stated that there was going to be a much greater emphasis on mathematical modelling than currently, and that there were certain aspects which he thought had worked well at Brentford.

Even though he managed Rangers in Div 1 and briefly managed in the SPL that pressure would have been immense. Can’t see how that experience wouldn’t be beneficial to us. Lots of my family members are huge rangers fans so have read various articles about his time up there.

Personally think Warburton would be a huge scoop for us.

I did edit about Warburton at Rangers just minutes after my original post because he won't be intimated by the negative noise of critics in the crowd.

The vast majority of professional coaches and a head of recruitment at an academy  I know agree with Warburton that you have to marry the two between checking data but also watching the players in different situations. How do they perform away from home in mid week in lousy weather when their team goes behind. Do they have the stamina for 90+ minute games. Are they a good team player. What is their family life like ? Are they good time keepers ? Do they train well and what is their diet ?  This is the gossip when Managers, scouts, recruitment guys meet up at the myriad of matches they go to every week.

The "black box" can identify players but it can't put the skin on the bones of every scenario that happens to players on their Journey to being a professional footballer with longevity.

The stats would have said that Marcus Maddison would've been a great signing for Cafc at just 27 But the reality was he had totally lost his way, was lonely because his relationship with his child's Mother had broken down, didn't enjoy training and had a poor diet for a pro footballer in the modern era. Throw in the Covid lockdown and if the Computer didn't say No the football grapevine most certainly knew it was a massive gamble. You guys on twitter and social media platforms knew Marcus was a lost soul.

Until Football is played by Robots the Black box data collection will only give you the template of footballers.

Gonna be hilarious when we play a high-pressing style, break down the low block and blow the league out of the water :)
Martin Sandgaard as manager while we are 20 points ahead in 1st place would test the idea that people would boycott even if we were doing well.

Would make for a car crash season on here for sure.
  • Beale is a top quality coach at the highest level.

There was no indication that Jackson was really a good coach or assistant, even before he took on the management role.
Sounds a bit like Les Reed.
  • I don't like the suggestion that we can press full steam ahead with recruitment notwithstanding the new manager may not be in place until late in the window.
The players we would want to recruit for, say Gareth Ainsworth or Daniel Farke would be totally different.
It would be a nonsense not to get the manager's involvement.

  • Sandgaard's comments since the announcement worry me. He's getting too involved in the running of the team.

Talking about high press & defensive blocks like he knows what he's talking about.

    It's a worrying sign.

The recruitment strategy worries me too. Don't think the manager has much say. I cant see the club progressing until he changes his approach & starts putting the team above his own ego

Why can't we just be a normal football club??
Well I know what those terms mean and so do most football supporters, why do you think he doesn’t?
I also want to see us playing a high press and expansive football. Why you think the person who is stumping up the money should not be allowed to have his say is bewildering.

As for the recruitment strategy, he has just changed that for good reason. Maybe we should give it a couple of hours before deciding if it is good or not?
  • Apparently Robinson is one of the favourites to get the QPR job!
  • I know a very long term Curbs stand season ticket holder who used to work with Mark Warburton in the city.
He told me a while ago, when he was at Brentford actually, that the other traders called Mark ‘Warbo’.
That is all my inside information I’m afraid.
