Will be interesting to see if TS wants to pay compensation for someone.4

You wouldn't expect many clubs to stand in the way of a coach getting an opportunity as manager.ForeverAddickted said:

We all know that’s not how it works though don’t we. If someone wants out there’s little point in standing in their way. Villa would be mad to try and hold onto someone who doesn’t want to be there. I’m sure they wouldn’t.ForeverAddickted said:

You do realise Villa don’t have him chained up. He’s not a slave and if he want to leave there’s not too much they can do about it.wmcf123 said:

The best quote from Gerrard about him is:
"It would take me 15 to 20 years to become as good as Michael Beale as an on-pitch coach, delivering sessions on a daily basis, so I let Mick be Mick because he's the expert."
If he's desperate to take the role, they could piss him off, but he'll still have to get on with his current job until he can leave at the end of whatever his current deal is.
How many times will Gallen go to clubs looking to sign a player, yet get told: "No thanks he's not for sale" - We wont hear about those will we1 -
Players possibly but I doubt any club would stand in the way of the ambitions of coaching staff.ForeverAddickted said:

My guess is that Beale will get better offers than Charlton but if he wants to be number one eventually then he’ll have to leave Villa won’t he ?5

I can see us going into the season without a Manager and saying it won't impact our transfer policy, formation and tactics.8

Can you imagine if our star striker just upped and left despite having a contract, I mean he isn't a slave you know. I am sure we would just wish him well and let him dance off on his merry way......ShootersHillGuru said:

players and coaches are different though aren’t they ? If Jason got the gig as manager at eg Wimbledon, who of Charlton supporters would call him a Judas. None that’s who.Cafc43v3r said:

Why are they? Managers are treated the same as players.ShootersHillGuru said:

I think it's different if your just a coach. Gerrard and Beale are a bit of a double act aren't they?
If he is as highly rated by Villa, $tevie G MBE and the fans as some suggest it would be strange if they just let him walk off.0 -
I remember thinking, 'Lennie Lawrence?' What are they thinking of! Something ditto with Gritt and Curbs. As Beale once played with us as a junior player he obviously knows we are a basket case club. Whoever we get needs to be well organised, very lucky and hope the buying team get their act together. Sir Chris did fantastically well, so it can be done.0

You might be right but I can’t see Villa, the fans or Stevie G MBE standing in his way if he gets the chance and wants to manage.Cafc43v3r said:

Liam Manning might just have moved from possible to slightly more possible4
-
Mate at QPR (season ticket holder) said that it’s the best football they’ve played for years under Warbs but priorities are on attack rather than defence. Attributes a lot of their down form to having all their keepers out and having to play their second choice youth keeper4
-
Remember Voakes who wasn't good enough for us in the summer because we will sign better...ShootersHillGuru said:Liam Manning might just have moved from possible to slightly more possible2 -
The more I hear and read about Warburton the more I think he’s the best choice. It also makes me think he’ll sadly have bigger offers than ours.3
-
Regardless of what people say, and the mental gymnastics they use to get there, hand on heart almost everyone would have taken Warburton when Bowyer and Adkins left regardless of who the other candidates were.ShootersHillGuru said:The more I hear and read about Warburton the more I think he’s the best choice. Just look at the thread about the rumours he was leaving QPR.
I think he is in the top 2 or 3 realistic candidates but he needs the tools to do his job and replicate his success. Obviously that means good players but HIS players and HIS staff. His two immediate predecessors didn't get that.9 -
If a manager came in, we strengthened in the summer, and we were way off the playoffs playing rubbish football, then yesGribbo said:
Do you think the new manager should be replaced, again, if he doesn't achieve promotion in his very first season then?killerandflash said:
Top half? We were only one place off 12th this season! No way will Thomas or the fans accept a season of mid table mediocrityGribbo said:All these wacky suggestioms and combinations .....
Just employ a (proven?) manager, let him bring his own staff in. And let him make the changes as he sees fit (4/5 out, 4/5 in).
Top half finish next term and go for promotion the following.
No unrealistic goals. No Jason Euell. No Lee Bowyer. No Curbs 16/1
Just a conventional NEW person with some sort of decent credentials.
If we came 7th or 8th, but showed real signs of progression, with a team of young players really bonding together and playing nice football, then no

Les Reid was a very good coach - that didn't make him a good manager.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Sure this has been posted before but this a great article on Beale.

My suspicion is that TS may take his advice on football matters from someone outside the UK given the garbled terminology he uses - so I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with a manager from the Continent. German managers were the vogue a while back.0
-
Very true, I believe that Curbs success was massively aided by Les Reid’s coaching….sm said:

Personally I preferred Les Reed.5

Has anyone mentioned Claus Jensen, done a pretty good job managing a small club in Denmark for the past two years, that may be near the limits of its potential and all the obvious connections. TS must know him - and he does like being popular.1
-
I reckon it’ll be Pearcy and that’s why he wasn’t offered a playing contract, clearly the stage is set and will be announced tomorrow.3
-
Michael Beale's title is assistant coach so it would be a leap from a number 3 to being the guy that picks the team. Thomas Sandgaard spoke on Zoom about Michael Beale as if he had applied last time. Wouldn't we have to head hunt him now?
0 -
If Sandgaard is serious about his stated ambitions (*checks with @JamesSeed for approval*), doesn't the new Manager have to be with us on the journey to the Premier League?
That would rule out any upcoming young aspirants. We need someone who is Premier League-ready.
Sandgaard has said that he "will do everything it takes to get there" (Source: the latest interview on the OS -7 mins onward).
What? More talk with no substance?
Surely not.3 -

Clue is in the name really "The MEN's team".ValleyGary said:
There are plenty of reasons she couldn’t. In fact, has she ever been involved in men’s football?rananegra said:
Saw the women's game on Sunday. Charlton did a Golfie. Heads didn't drop. If Karen Hills took the mens team it would cause uproar but is there a good reason why she couldn't? Hypothetical of courseGravesend_Addick said:

The publicity Sandgaard would get would be something only someone like him could only dream of. Would go down an absolute treat with his American following and maybe even some of them would watch.
Never been done before and it's a new angle.
Got Sandgaard written all over it!1 -

Michael Duff

Mark Warburton
I'd be happy with any one of this four. Desperately not happy with talk of Hasselblad getting the job. Or Lennon.0 -
I wonder if Sandgaard will be looking at Danish managers? Kent Nielsen is apparently doing very well in the Danish superliga for Silkeborg. Fans are saying he plays a high pressing 433. Has experience of English football playing for Aston Villa (quite some time ago in the late 80s), Danish fans saying he may end up being coach of the season. I also wonder if we have the pull to take one of their young talents with him in Sebastian Jorgensen. 11 goals and 8 assists in 28 matches, wages estimated between 3-5k, market value of 900k.If Thomas does want a Danish manager I do wonder if he could afford the wages of these top flight European clubs managers.Just thinking a little outside the box. After watching the Beale and Warburton YouTube videos I do think they’d both be decent options and I’d be very optimistic with either.1

Rangers youth team manager? Would be an interesting suggestion or is this because of his truly weird haircut?0
