Ultimately, I just want our new manager sorted sooner rather than later, and I would hope that timeliness of this appointment is playing into TS' thoughts about getting someone in place. Appreciate that we don't want to rush in to this, but time is against us - under NA, we had pre-season fixtures in early July and that is not far away. It's going to be delicate, but I can't imagine people like, for example - Manning, are going to be in any hurry to get on the phone in any good time if they have remaining games/playoffs/commitments. I kinda wish, like others have said, that TS had made this decision to bin JJ earlier, but I suspect he had this in his head and wanted to keep the players honest for the remaining games.
NA had a transfer window and full pre-season and still balls'd it up - new guy coming in will have less time for prep and players, plus added pressure of playoff minimum, expectation of high press football and probably a modest (albeit higher than most in L1) budget. It sounds less and less appealing for many managers, the more I think about it.0 -
Who’s tenner did this then?20

So which bucket does he fit in, a young coach or experienced manager?..0

I rate Matt Taylor an Exeter play an expansive attacking game which fits with the direction TS wants to go in.Whenever Taylor is interviewed he speaks well and seems to have his head screwed on.I suspect it might be tricky to get him as he we will probably want to "finish" what he has started with Exeter.1

League One is really their ceiling level - He's done a great job getting them back at this level.
But think if he stays, the best he can do with them is mid-table4 -
How about Gary Cahill as player coach with an experienced No 2, seemed to work in the past1

Matt Taylor deserves credit for what he’s done at Exeter and it will be interesting to see how he does there next season. If he stays
on a separate note I played golf with him just before he left us and he was one of the nicest blokes I’ve met! He actually spoke to us as opposed to just standard cliched answers. He was open and honest which we’d all agree we want in a manager. Who knows if he’s got the necessary steel in him to manage some of the bigger characters we have in comparison to Exeter???

I'm just basing my opinion on what Exeter have achieved in the past, combined with the fact they're fan owned - If they can get promoted to the Championship then they'll have done an excellent job, but I'd be surprised if they achieved it.

This page has convinced me Matt Taylor is the guy to lead us to the Prem. All aboard the Matt Taylor bandwagon.10

Exeter City have never been higher than L1/D3 in their history.
They have spent the vast majority of their history in L2.
Charlton have played in The Premier League and D1 and have won the FA Cup.
Charlton have never played in L2.
Moving to Charlton would obviously be a step up, end of story, unless you think Exeter are on a par with Charlton, Sunderland, Sheff W, Ipswich, Portsmouth etc.
They are temporarily in the same division, nothing more and nothing less.
You may as well say Brentford to Liverpool or Man U wouldn't be a step up.15 -
I think Exeter will look at Burton, Yeovil, Wycombe etc and think that could be them within a season or three.Yes it’s more common than not that such teams find it hard to break through to the next level but I’m sure Taylor believes they have the set-up in place to emulate those other team’s successes.
Edit to add the below paragraphs:Taylor would need to be convinced that Sandgaard’s intentions are serious to consider moving at this point in time IMO.
It’s not impossible though. Look at Wilder who left Northampton for Sheff Utd the season after getting them promoted.3 -

I think you'll find Exeter have never played in The Premier League and aren't owned by a stinking rich owner.2
