Adkins had NO INTEREST in the players we signed last year.  He had zero suggestions and zero interest in it.  He had been out of the game for too long and wasn’t up to date with players but didn’t care anyway.  He was prepared to work with what he had.

Don’t think  it took too long to realise we had made a mistake but probably took too long to act on it.
Wouldn't the suggestion of players came up in the interview? Surely the flags would have been there?

But I suppose when you've got a very inexperienced person conducting the interviews then this type off scenario was always a possibility.
As long as the lesson is learned
Which is clearly hasn’t, as no football people have been added to the senior management.
    Brian Jokat’s spell with Olympiacos doesn’t count?…
    Eight months as “sponsorship consultant”?
Wasn’t sure what his role was but wasn’t a serious comment.

All he needs to do is phone Peter Varney.

Peter Varney, a CEO who would arrive early on match days to make sure we were a well run club behind the scenes. ( Anne Payne passed that info on a few years ago) The falling out with Murray was the catalyst for divisions and factions at Cafc. We have moved not crablike but downwards unfortunately and despite his best intentions after taking over the reigns when we were heading into oblivion, Thomas Sandgaard hasn't managed to make progress.

Peter Varney and Alan Curbishley know how to organise a football club at a high level. I'm not talking about formations but the day to day running of a Premier club or a championship team. Higher than we are now. Just have the guys around on a part time basis to pass on their experience.
Curbs probably has been away too long to be the director of football but surely not to be a mentor ?

I'm a believer that the manager always has the casting vote once the budget has been decided by the Owner and CEO or however the top table is made up.

New Manager by the end of May* so we can give the new guy a chance to stamp his signature on the 22/23 team. Things do need to change as Nigel Adkins sounded out the loop a tad when he was describing the "committee" process though he said he knew how it would work with Thomas and Ged Roddy.

*End of May by the latest.

Pre season starts 16th of June.
As things stand we have no manager and only half a squad.
    Just saying.

Yeah Beale tweeted earlier about having to get to a wedding after training , think this is really really clutching at straws.

Post deleted as responses kinda proved the point.  Just one thing though, once the guy has had a lie down - as it appears Okay for people to jabber about players qualities, skills and effort (knowing that very few spouting their wisdom  are or have been professional footballers) and to question Curbishley for being out of the game “too long”, but seemingly not Okay for me to mention Sandgaard who has a CV without ANY football background, UK football experience or any link to  any type of football history at this level unless I am his long term mate is apparently “insulting”.  Good grief.  Talk about irony.

it’s a real shame that recently fans can’t seem to just post their concerns about the team, recruitment, TS, MS, which are all valid - without a vociferous minority sweepingly insulting or abusing CL or posters with whom they don’t agree.  We are not entitled, or comparing to previous shit owners, TS “bashers” or stupid, we are simply concerned fans.  TS is the owner, but has said and done some bizarre things which gives cause for concern, and done some of those things very strangely.  His son knows SFA about football and an estimation of 10x the average sky viewer is an overestimate by about 10, recruitment and some of the back room structure is and continues to be an issue, concerns over management and new player recruitment are equally valid.  Let everyone have their say without sweeping generalizations or insults.  Doesn’t need to be that way just because some don’t agree.  It’s all opinion and conjecture and no-one on this forum has the “I’m always right” stick.
Maybe I don’t tune in enough to posts, so what examples of insults or abuse have you read?

I totally agree with you mate 100% but I think what alot of people are trying to do is bring a bit of rationale to the discussion. Most of what is being thrown about is hearsay and conjecture which once said enough is accepted as fact when it clearly isnt the case.
The window isnt open yet and some are moaning because we havent signed players. The manager hasnt been announced yet but interviews are clearly ongoing.
MS is in charge of recruitment
Washington was sacked because he spoke out of turn.
The list goes on and on but none of it is substantiated.
I fully understand and accept that most on here wont be happy until we have dragged Curbs out of retirement, given Peter Varney the keys to the Valley etc but my point is let's just calm down and see who comes in as Manager after the process. What players we sign in the window.
If as some keep saying it turns out a complete balls up then fair enough but it's too early to start now imo that's all

The highlighted irony here is why people do sometimes get annoyed at fans posting their concerns. What do you honestly know about Martin Sandgaard, other than what you've decided you know about him? Unless you know him personally, I suspect very little. So why are you insulting his football knowledge? It's true, he might not even know what shape the ball they use is, but I think it's slightly more likely that you're making a sweeping assumption, barbed with an insult, based on conjecture, which is exactly what you're complaining about other people doing. I think I need a lie down actually, this might have finished me.

I did wonder if TS was taken in by someone in Adkins who's incredibly personable and probably a fantastic interviewee.
I reckon most managers could talk the talk say all of the things that sandgaard wants to hear, & as somebody with very little football experience how does he separate the wheat from the chaff ? Call in junior ? Even for very experienced people in football it's difficult making the right choice of manager, sandgaard needs to be very lucky.

Absolutely, I wonder who's actually doing the interviews? TS,MS and SG?.

I definitely think Adkins comes under the talk the talk type of manager.

True, but he had also walked the walk. Just quite a few years ago, and not for us unfortunately 😕

    No need to worry.

    Close season not officially started.

    We don't want him anyway.

There is plenty of time left, stop wetting the bed.

We are keeping it top secret for a reason.

Plenty of time yet pre season is not till next week.

He's overrated, don't want him anyway.

    Other teams signings are underwhelming.

Look at that lot spending big, they'll go nowhere.

That's a cracking signing IF he stays fit.

We'll pick up a few Premier loans.

Pre season has just started plenty of time to bed in new recruits.

He'll be good for us, I know he'll miss the start because of a niggle.

    Well that was shit.

It's only early doors we'll pick up in September.

Has anyone seen the free agent list.

He was good 10 years ago at ______ .
