I firmly believe that we dont yet have a manager because no young up & coming manager is prepared to join knowing that they have no say in player recruitment & that their contract will be based on performances from a team not of their choosing.
Not only have we been turned down by Beale it wouldn't surprise me if it's been a NO from Taylor too. And we were told the other day that Garner ain't too happy with the contract either.4 -

Even Magennis, Novak or Ajose might have been better than no one.1 -

Jackson’s higher compensation hinged on finishing eighth or higher, which was probably already impossible when he took over, although personally I think he is better off at AFCW.To offer some broader context a lot of the scepticism about TS is driven from within the club, playing side and non-playing side. There is certainly a private view of him among ex-pros that is much more sceptical than the public one.
i don’t think anyone wants him to fail, still less be organising any opposition to him. I won’t be doing that regardless. But wanting him to succeed won’t make it happen.
If Jackson had taken us from a relegation place to an 8th place (or higher) finish, why is compensation even relevant? Did the contract really allow for a sacking under those circumstances?
I'm only interpreting what I've seen @Airman Brown state, which I think he based on Cawley's reporting. I'm not ITK BTW and have no connection to Charlton, other than suffering along with the rest of us since the 70's.2 -
After pages and pages of OCD oriented posts and “conspec” I do hope we find a manager….and soon! By the way OCD doesn’t stand for Obsessive Charlton Disorder0

not condoning the criminal
negligence/ apathy of the latter part of his ownership , nor the hideous interference of the first part but I’m not convinced by the new guy . Being better than RD isn’t a high bar .2 -

We also signed some good players in league 1, but you could well argue that that was despite Roland and his set up.1 -
Remember the good ones RD signed for us - we are still paying for them with his ridiculously inflated valuation of the club
he didn’t get them for us for nothing…
We are run significantly more prudently right now. It may not be exciting for some but it’s a lot more sustainable20 -

Especially as Thomas has a finite level of cash.
The fact that that quote came from someone, I think we would all agree, that is at least somewhat successful in business makes me stratch my head.
I know he is an optimistic guy, I know he has some interest, I know he believes in Thomas, but to claim its sustainable? Really?1 -
Given that TS isn't evidently flying in until Monday - so no manager announcement until then at the very earliest....could I drop in this tangent to while away the time.....?
It's just that it illustrates graphically the kind of craziness which seems to possess owners of football clubs when they start to doubt their own employees and begin to introduce friends or family members into the set up.
In 2013 the owner of Cardiff City, Vincent Tan, brought his son to the Welsh Club simply to 'hang out' there and take the temperature of the club.' Tan junior thought it would be a good idea, literally, to give the ground a new lick of paint during the close season. Step forward friend of the young Tan one Alisher Apsalyamov a 23 year old East European student hired as a painter and decorator on a 'work experience' basis.
Alisher Apsalyamov (AA for short) happened to mention to Tan (during his tea break?) that he had watched some of Cardiff's then Premiership games on TV and he had a few ideas on how to improve the team. This was good enough for Tan who suspended his head of player recruitment Ian Moody and got AA down off his ladder, promoting him into Moody's position.
A club spokesman at the time said: Apsalyamov's role will be to focus on gathering data on individual players and he will be responsible for the January transfer window.*
Any resemblance to similar events at Charlton Athletic FC either now or in the past is entirely coincidental.
*Aspsalyamov left Cardiff City one week before the January transfer window having failed to obtain a work permit. It is not known whether he recommended any players to Cardiff City or whether he finished his paintwork.

I mean, I love wine and consider myself a very affable chap, but if you put me in charge of the Chateau Rothschild and let me run the place with zero experience and taking no advice from industry professionals then it won't be long before you're buying a bottle of Château Lafite for ten quid at Tescos rather than the current price of two thousand quid a bottle.
The best managers appoint experienced and capable people and let THEM run the show, offering only a gentle hand on the shoulder when needed.
Let's be honest folks, football is a cesspit of an industry and naïve arrivistes like Sandgaard, and before him Tony Fernandes at QPR, get their pants pulled down very quickly, something even Fernandes himself admits.
Key quote from the article below: "There is no substitute to hard work, getting the right people and listening to them."

The problem is that folks like Sandgaard, as nice as he may be, has made a couple of hundred millions dollars in medical devices running things HIS way, so will take some convincing that this approach is not going to work in football and that he needs to listen to others and let them run the show.
Sadly, I think we are going to have to go through a fair bit of pain before that happens.36 -
