Who in their right mind would buy the club if it didn't include the valley.
That's why seperating the valley from the club remains a major concern2 -
Well, that statement has poured more fuel on the fires of discontent.
Worst than that it will, assuming it happens, spoil the party when Garner is finally appointed.
A mistake. Not the end of the world but a big mistake none the less.
Maybe the owner was frustrated by the version of events being leaked from Swindon, perhaps because they want to force Charlton to pay more compensation than TS is wanting to pay but even if that was the case (I have no inside info) it was still a mistake.
It does point to both needing to bite your lip and ignore the comments and insults (yes, yes pot and kettle coming from me and no Cawley's comments weren't in anyway insulting or outside his remit as a local journalist) as well not consulting/listening to your experienced CEO, comms team or even your own appointed fan advisor who has a PR background and was selected largely because of that.
My fear is the family now draw up the drawbridge and take on an "us and them" mentality.
TS has spoken about a "one club" mentality and I understand the new CEO Jokat is pushing that same mantra.
To succeed the fans need to be a big, the biggest, part of that but this weekend has damaged that, I just hope not permanently.

He's probably praying that Pope and Gomez are sold this summer as that could halve the losses.0 -

Finally!Just getting the train back from Paris after getting stranded overnight, looking forward to some good news as the train comes through the other side about a possible Charlton coronation.0

Sometimes it's best to keep your mouth shut and look the fool, not open it and confirm the fool.

I might be the only one who doesn’t care that much how this has unfolded, I simply now want a manager announced.
If it is Ben Garner then that would be a kind of positive neutral from me, and I will be interested (especially if he gets tunes out of Kirk, Gilbey and Morgan) in how it all goes.
But above all I want the focus to be on doing everything possible to win the first game of the season, then the one after that, then the one after…….27 -

Russel Slade never received the credit that was due with his innovative formation and improvements he made to the squad ? ? ?
In the Cafc canteen where the food was healthier, the sitting arrangements were made so the players bonded and no one was isolated. Slade wasn't keen on milky tea so made sure that Doris only used skimmed milk and left the tea bags in the Cup longer than we managed on the field.

My take on the delay is that whatever deal has been signed up to, be it oven ready, half baked or otherwise, is conditional and those conditions have yet to be met.3

Nobody knows what the hell is really going on, so this is my take using a good old fashioned housing anology.
I (Charlton) want to buy a one bedroomed flat (Garner) from you (Swindon) and whilst we have agreed a price we don't want to disclose this until negotiations are finalised. However, a third party (Cawley) makes the agreement public knowledge. As I do not want to weaken by negotiation position I quickly refute this by saying it is not the case as I am still looking at other properties, two bedroomed house (Warburton) and a three bedroomed house (Beale), neither of which I can really afford but I won't say that. You are also unhappy as you accept you are selling your flat and don't want this announcement to stop others viewing the property.
As this is taking longer than expected one of the parties decides to go on holiday and we both decide that whilst negotiations can continue an announcement will not be made until all parties are in the same room so it can be signed off together.
Being abroad I pack my guitar and ego and book a flight. Meanwhile it is discovered that the fixtures (coach 1) and fittings (coach 2) are not included in the price and further negotiations are necessary causing a further delay. I am happy with.the fixtures but don't really need the fittings as I am happy with my current fittings (JE). To add to this the 3rd party makes a further announcement that an agreement has been reached which suggests that the house has been sold. As the fittings are still to be agreed my wife (Dr R) who has been quiet up to now thinks she is being helpful and interferes causing further chaos. I can't tell her that so I issue a statement to give a clearer position which only serves to complicate matters further.
On my flight over I read messages from my friends (fans) on social media and it is quite clear I will never appease everybody as they refer to the fact I used to live in a 4 bedroomed detached house (prem days) and nothing less than that will now be acceptable. Despite my promises that this will happen within the next 5 years I can only afford a one bedroomed flat and even that is becoming more expensive (compensation for Garner, coach 1 and 2 and probably JE) and is now at the price of my 3 bedroomed house I looked at but is no longer for sale.
I have therefore decided I no longer wish to move and as I still need a manager to look after things whilst I am abroad I will be appointing and announcing my son (MS) who will be keeping the current fittings, in my own time. There is no hurry to do this before the pre season trip to Spain as that has been cancelled as the hot climate and Mediterranean food doesn't agree with my son, who I have to put first.
I will be reviewing the housing market again in December when I decide things aren't working out.7 - Sponsored links:

A house buying analogy is always helpful to any transfer / manager long running thread.

The ad man's ubiquitous Own...Christmas; happiness; dieting; Glastonbury is one repugnant example of this meaningless
genre. You can also add Your way to the end of the examples above to achieve the same nonsensical effect.
Anyway, next season we'll have a new manager, some different players, a new kit, but the same old comforting schisms that will always make us 'One Club'.0 -

We’re in a bit of a bubble on CL.In a crowd of 13 or 14 thousand at the first match of the season, how many of them will be regulars on CL? 4 or 5 hundred maybe? Most in the crowd won’t even be aware of the delays, the poor communication and the social media shenanigans, I would imagine. Not that the debate hasn’t been quite interesting on here, but I do think we get a bit het up sometimes.36
