I like TS and appreciate everything he has done for the club, but If we are really haggling over 10s of thousands of pounds and that is the hold up we are in trouble and he needs to get a grip3

Since Jackson has left, he's gone on holiday, interviewed for / got a new job, and made his first signing.
Fleetwood sacked their manager May 4th, they have a new manager in place and have already made their first signing.
How amazing would that be.2 -

Sounds like the imminent word could be appropriate.Sandergaard is in the country so it should be announced soon. As before. Garner is a done deal and they are dotting I's and crossing t's on the other two. Compo debate on going but not miles apart.
Drama queens a plenty in our fanbase.

Yes, for football insiders a few eyebrows may have been raised about the optics/coms, which is a shame.
The window hasn’t stopped plenty of other clubs announcing signings, the date it opens is irrelevant.8 -

I am sure we said the same thing last summer..... and the summer before that..... its like Groundhog Day. Being urged to stay calm up until 10pm on deadline day. Before we slowly realise we didnt do anything close to enough to compete.3 -

From a Swindon supporting contact -
It’s been a bit of a shambles regarding the announcement I see.
Evidently Garner told the players straight after the Port Vale loss. Ben Chorley I believe will go to Orient and join Wellens again (would love him back but just can’t see it) - he was the DOF. Fall out with one of the Directors thus surprised he wasn’t gone a few months back.
As for Garner a bit of a gamble, not the most courageous or strong Manager and only plays one way. He has done well though with the challenges he had to deal with. Hope he does well for you, all about possession based football and his strengths with young players. Not so sure how he would handle more experienced players but he did manage McKirdy so must have something. Let’s players have slack.
Main criticism I have with him is his inability to make changes. However at Swindon you could argue this was limited from the bench.
The backroom guys are good in my opinion and decent references from the players.
It’s stability we need right now thus could be a challenge for us but I have heard we already have appointed the new head coach (Manager) just a case of Charlton announcing Garner officially.
This is a gamble for Charlton (ex Palace) links, he was a disaster at Rovers but did well at Swindon. Not an outpouring of grief from our side but the expectation is all about the replacement. Unfortunately I think our fans may be a little underwhelmed when the appointment is made.
Davison unbelievable missing that spot kick, wouldn’t be surprised if we see him again, although we could do better. He works very hard but just not a natural finisher.

This long and continued drawn out saga to sign a new manager has really dented my trust is TS, especially as I think back to the start of last season when we recruited Adkins and TS stated in the background we are always identifying our next potential manager - hmm that didn’t happen with JJ and now TS had identified to get rid of JJ without having a succession plan - echos cries of lies and as loyal Charlton fans we will not
have our trust tested to the brink especially after all circus 🎪 of owners we have had in the recent past - IF YOU ARE LISTENING SANDGAARD - DO NOT PUSH US !
you've been warned

Just a sly, needless dig if you ask me! 🤨
Being given a list of, let's say, 5 players, that someone else has identified, and putting them in order, and then letting the same guy go and negotiate with clubs, agents and the player, isn't having much say is it? Maybe they can go to Gallen and bypass all of that and go "remember Joe Bloggs who played well against us for Northern Twats FC? I want to sign him" and he goes off and tries, but from what the managers and Gallen have said in recent years, that's not the general way we go about our recruitment process.0 -
Airman Brown said:Redmidland said:Airman Brown said:Addick Addict said:We sack Adkins (and have to pay him off) and then JJ who, in a matter of days, gets another job (but there is no compo due). We then have to wait weeks and weeks to get someone we want as his replacement with the issue being the level of compo.
Perhaps it is the cost of and lack of return for our most recent managers that irks the businessman that is TS and explains his reluctance to pay what Swindon demand. And why he rubbishes the story released by journos that we have signed Garner because he wants the deal done on his terms and until that happens he doesn't want anyone else announcing it.
As I said on my one and only previous post on this thread, if, technically, nothing had been signed then the deal is not done!
Bit like when a house is sold....a big SOLD sign goes up...in the small print underneath it nearly always says Subject to contract.
Crawley has the right to publish what he knows, but he may not have known about any sticking points. It simple really!
If people think a compensation negotiation about two second-tier employees is about hundreds of thousands then fair enough, but from their status and my knowledge of TS's other staffing negotiations I'd say it is more likely to be about tens of thousands and that doesn't justify taking two weeks to resolve, still less voiding the whole deal and starting again.
in other words he may have been playing others along until all the i’s were dotted and t’s crossed etc.2 -

Yes, for football insiders a few eyebrows may have been raised about the optics/coms, which is a shame.
The window hasn’t stopped plenty of other clubs announcing signings, the date it opens is irrelevant.
And he always tells the truth.3 -
