very surprised that Yusseff, Wright and Arter have been released. No real surprises otherwise. I'm unsure if I want ZZ to stay. I think his game is actually more suited to PL football where you get more time and space to express yourself and I'm not convinced he be able to shine in the rough and tumble of League 1.

Fortune might sign until January because nobody else will want a seriously injured player until he has proved his fitness.

I think the 'talks' go as follows

Charlton "ZZ, would you like to stay on a new contract, but it will be a quarter of your last one"

    ZZ "No"

    :-)

no harm in talking but I'd be surprised if they can reach a financial agreement although apparently he's happy in London.

and looks like josh wright is off because "he is exercising his right to talk to other clubs"

if holland stays and wright and arter go i'd be disappointed.

This is good news. I agree with the players in each category. Definitely worth keeping Randolph - we have enough positions to worry about without having to sign a backup keeper in the summer.

I guess it was always likely we would try to offer him a contract, obviously he may turn it down. Would be brilliant if we could keep him.

Disappointed about Yussef. Looked a prospect but what do I know

Weaver and Toddy did a job and Toddy in particular was unlucky with injuries. Thanks and good luck guys.

    Same to Arter and Thomas.

Don't really want to keep Holland but won't knock his work ethic or professionalism. Will be delighted to keep Fortune. Not sure about Randolph.

ZZ, rate him big time and really surprised that we think we can afford him. Where's the money coming from as even if he takes a cut I imagine that he's still going to want big-ish money.

Good photo. RM looks like he's come straight from a shoot. Quick Quiz. Who is it in the glasses next to RM and who is it wearing the Charlton tie behind him?

    Agreed.

One or more of Bailey, Shelvey, Racon and Sam will go and Wright in particular would be useful.

Couldn't help but notice the generalised "coaching staff and scouting team"......

I think he'll stay. He's so laid back he's almost horizonal and doesn't seem to want to push himself. He'll be happy with a new two year deal I reckon. To me he's the sort of player that isn't really bothered if he doesn't play but if he does he'll give his all. He's in the comfort zone with us and will want to remain there. Had the chance to go to Stoke but really couldn't be arsed so I doubt he'll leave now.

lol ......... more like, if the club can get ZZ to sign a new contract, then he once again becomes a valuable asset - and the club have the opportunity to recover some of their investment.

So logical scenario 1: Come January, Charlton are pushing for promotion, so ZZ enjoying his football, not wanting to uproot his family and best paid player at the club, stays.

Scenario 2: Come January, Charlton are inconsistant, muddling along in mid-table, ZZ thinks to himself, "this is a crock of shit, I'm outta here", and goes off to the highest bidder. Result, Charlton get an inflated transfer fee to waste on a multitude of unknowns.

couldn't agree more. With Bailey and Shelvey likely to go Josh Wright will be needed.

spotted that too, would have expected 'Phil Parkinson and his coaching team' at the very least. Looks like maybe the review is over and things are starting to happen.

But if Wright wants to go we can't stop him. Maybe he's expressed he's not interested in staying so we aren't going to bother initiating contract discussions. You can't make someone sign a contract!

Perhaps our Joshua is thinking, "if Parky's not staying, then I'm gone too".

    Actually, probably not.

    I agree with Large.

I am also surprised with the release of Yusseff.

From the little I have seen of him I always reckoned that it would not be long before he made the first team squad especially now that we are in Div.1.

Happy with everything else although I was quite impressed with Wright when he played for the Gills in the play off final.

Phil Chapple is, by default, as he's the only when left ........ our new manager.

Yes, it's the wonderful Chris Parkes. Must be the longest serving member of staff and as he's the club secretary will know a lot of secrets.

Lovely guy and Charlton thru and thru.

Maybe the picture of Murray with Phil Chappell is a subtle little clue, ala Dan Brown, from the guys at the OS.

But we only get compensation for him if we offer him a contract equal to his current one. If we're offering him nothing then he goes for free. Surely he wouldn't really rather go to gillingham if he was offered a bit of playing time at charlton.

From the OS, Sharon's not gone yet:

"However, none of those deals has yet to be officially confirmed, and the official website will have any news as soon as it happens..."

I heard some time ago that there was a chance that ZZ would stay. Clearly he will have to take a pay cut but staying may be his best option. Offering a new contract to Holland is more of a surprise.
