Tragic case and I really feel for the parents.
  • RIP to the poor lad... Feel for his parents at the moment.

Fully understand arguments from both sides of the fence - Just pray I'll never be put into that position as a parent myself

Such a terrible thing to happen. If one good thing can come of it, perhaps it'll make other kids think twice before taking on ridiculous challenges. I feel desperately sorry for his parents. Life will never be the same for them, but I hope they find a way to come to terms with things. RIP Archie.

I don't think there's conclusive evidence either way, though my suspicion is the same as PopIcon's.

Either way, it's tragic, and while I'd agree with the doctors and not the family, I can't imagine having to deal with that situation myself, horrible and so sad for them.

    RIP.

It was reported earlier that he hung himself, obviously no parent wants that out there.

Such a waste of a young life 💔

RIP Archie, gone far too young whatever the circumstances were. (And I don't think this is the place to debate them or speculate)

    RIP.

I would’ve fought as hard as his parents, who wouldn’t?

However it is wrong to demonise hard working NHS people in this tragedy.

I can't think of a news item in the last few years that has been as desperately sad in every aspect.  What an awful thing for any family to go through.

    Me.

They weren't wrong, it's a personal choice, but my personal choice would be to let my child go if they were brain dead.

Sadly there's nothing good in this story all around, it's a really sad case.  I feel for the parents, and I feel for the hospital staff.

I've pruned a lot of posts from the thread including ones that had a lot of likes and including ones I'd previously liked myself. This doesn't feel the right place for debating religious beliefs or for speculating about his parents. So please start posting again, but remember that the purpose of this thread is to share our respects for Archie. Hopefully that's something we can all agree on.

As the opening poster, I was just trying to RIP to young Archie, my opening line was ' whatever your thoughts on the situation' NOT 'what are your thoughts on the situation' I was merely paying respect to young Archie.
Thanks to the mods for closing and deleting the
posts that had nothing to do with paying respect.
So disappointing that it had to happen, can we, just for once, just pay respect without fucking arguing and trying to make political or religious points....a 12 Yr old has died.
