Five Charlton legends

Who would you list as your top five Charlton legends?
It will be a different list for almost everyone. And everyone has a different definition of the word "legend". Some players made an immediate impact on the club from the day they arrived, but perhaps fail the "legend" status because their Charlton career was short. Some committed themselves to the club for decades, before, during and after their playing careers, without being the greatest players the club has seen. And some players made such a monumental impact, having graced the game at the highest level, simply by signing for Charlton and playing, brilliantly. For these three reasons, my list would probably exclude Clive Mendonca, Keith Peacock and Allan Simonsen, respectively.
But other players are hard to dislodge from the "legend" status. And everyone has a different means of measuring it.
So if you were to pick five - and five only - who would they be? They don't have to be in any particular order; you don't even need to have seen them play. You can give your reasons, or you can let the players' names speak for themselves.
There are only two criteria:
1. They must have played for Charlton
2. You genuinely think they're a "Charlton legend".

1. Sam Bartram - Decades before social media, when the world was a bigger place, everybody in the country knew Sam Bartram. This larger than life character whose career spanned generations.
C'mon for chrissake, we've got a fecking great statue of the guy. He must be number one.
2. Stuart Leary
3. Eddie Firmani
4. Keith Peacock
5. Derek Hales1 -
For me off the top of my head:
Colin Walsh
Peter Shirtliff
Richard Rufus
Clive Mendonca
Mark Kinsella0 -
Longevity or greatness, a blend of both in my list which is only players I got the pleasure of watching, with special mentions to Steve Brown, Bob Bolder and Kinsella (Kiely and Humphrey good shouts but both having played for Palace too I have to rule them out!)
Steve Gritt - over 400 games across 17 years. Went on to be manager. Played every position. Never forget his name suddenly appearing in the team on our first game back at The Valley. Proper Charlton man.Chris Powell - first England capped Charlton player for years. He "got" the club and the fans. Gave everything every game, played with a smile on his face and is my favourite player for Charlton of all my time because of that. The fact he got us promoted as manager is the icing on the cake. (I know he was also at Palace... But he is Chris Powell!).Clive Mendonca - would we have ever made the PL without him. Just a class player, wonderful to watch and that Wembley day in 98 will never be beaten with him out main man.
Peter Shirtliff - one of my younger Charlton memories was hiding in a toilet at my Grans as he scored in the Leeds play-off to keep us up. I just couldn't handle the excitement even at that early age!
Colin Walsh - a wonderful player and the goal on the first game back at The Valley is a memory that will live with me to the day I die.
I would have quite possibly had Solly in there from the modern era. One club man who really did give his career to Charlton and put his body on the line time and again despite pretty horrific injuries early in his career. He was a player I loved watching in his early years as he tackled like a train but clean every time. .what a shame how it finished (whatever happened, which I guess we will never know for sure but taints it for me).1 -

Would have quite possibly had Solly in there if it had not finished how it did.
No one seems to know the full story, with a number of different versions out there.0 -
