Met him in, of all the unlikely places, Tunbridge Wells where he was playing a show with The Crickets and Bobby Vee. He signed my Buddy Holly songbook. He was charming and friendly and was happy to talk about the recording sessions with Buddy in Clovis, New Mexico. Another hero of my youth has gone.

Another legend gone, he played on one of my all time favourite tracks, Peggy Sue, fun fact, she was Jerrys girlfriend when Buddy Holly wrote it.

I saw him and the crickets with Nanci Griffith in the 90's, they played a stormer.

    RIP JI.
