How do you define Country Music?
I would say some of the songs mentioned would not necessarily be country music, like, By the Time I Get to Phoenix, isn’t that just a pop ballad?I like Jimmie Dale Gilmore but not sure if he strictly comes under the Country banner?
Perhaps it’s the Artist who defines the genre? Dolly Parton, I would be inclined to say is a country music singer but I wouldn’t necessarily say Glen Campbell was? One of my all time favourite songs, Wichita Lineman, is that a country song, I wouldn’t say so?

Which makes living in Ireland quite painful sometimes as they love it. The nonsense with that Garth fella who sold out a stadium five times over, with most of the country in cowboy hats & boots is a complete embarrassment.It just reminds me of my youth & my mothers obsession with it.
