RIP Victor Lewis-Smith

The writer, producer, critic and occasional presenter has died aged 65. I was just reading what will probably be his penultimate Private Eye column yesterday. RIP

RIP - could be very funny but not to everyone's taste.

He was the first review columnist I really remember reading regularly in a newspaper. His TV reviews were amazing. I didn't really understand a lot of them but he certainly gave me a sense of what an abstract review could be like, if that's even the best way to describe it.

RIP the man who 'invented' Seaman Stains and Roger the cabin boy in Captain Pugwash.

  • In an ocean of mediocrity and safe ~  VLS shone. Amongst those that really shine VLS seemed really quite mediocre! May his soul rest in peace.
