I still have a part of me that thinks he can do a job. Bit of confidence and a few goals might make a huge difference.

Has speed and power and has scored goals in the past.

or we could flog him to MK Dons

Agree with this, i geniunely think if we gave him a decent chance he'd prove himself.

Wouldn't sell him to MK Dons though, he'd probably score 25 goals and they'd win the league.

I reckon he might score a few goals if given a chance. Dickson managed it so who knows. Maybe Izale the Goal Machine is about to be unleashed :-O

If Izale scores more than 15 goals next year NSS has to wear a clown outfit last game of the season.

There's every chance that Dizzy Izzy could cut it at this level, regardless of his Milwall loan record, providing:

    1) He gets off the mark quickly, even flukily.

    2) He can just show a little composure in front of goal - and not snatch Lisbie-style at every half chance that comes along.

    3) He's a very strong runner with the ball, and works his way into dangerous positions - he will create chances for himself, and others, and win penalties

    4) He's a confidence player - when he feels inside that scoring is easy and he can do it with his eyes shut(!), he'll score regularly.

    5) He needs the team to replicate the kind of service he was given at MK Dons:
Link: The video that Alan Pardew watched, lol

Izzy is all about confidence and self-belief. That's all that's missing at this level.

I agree with Oggy, and at this level a good manager (and I mean good- Mr Parkinson!) should be able to get the best out of him or at least give him a decent run in the side, I don't feel we are exactly awash with top quality striking talent at the mo and on our budget who could we get in? So let's give Mr McLeod a chance.

I suspect that he'll not feature for us much. In the same bucket as Moo2.

Should have scored last night. I don't feel we will ever see the best of Izzy in a Charlton shirt. Hope I'm wrong though

Almost every time I see him I just can't see him scoring regularly, doesn't look like a player that scored as many as he did at MK Dons, even if it was in League Two. Would be great for him to score the goals, but apart from good pace and a bit of movement I really don't see much there.

never mind getting into double figures for goals... izale could get double figures for earning penalties. he's brilliant at that!

scoham, don't you think that adding confidence in front of goal to the pace and movement you mention and he could come good next year? if he gets a goal or 2 early on and stays in the side i think he'll be useful.

Good comparison to Lisbie actually Oggy. Mcleod is similarly frustrating. Frustrating in the sense that he'll score goals for every club he plays for bar Charlton! To be fair to him though, I don't think he's been given much of a chance (He's started one game for us). Whenever he plays he always looks likely to cause trouble for defences and has won us a few penalties. If he gets a good pre-season behind him I think he'll start well. If not, then that must be close to £5m alone Pardew wasted on forwards (Gray, Varney, Mcleod, Fleetwood, Dickson).

He has to get that confidence from somewhere though, and he never looked like close to having a good shot last night, never mind finding himself in a goalscoring position.

I won't write him off completely, he has something there to have scored goals for MK Dons. It's just I don't think he'll do it for us. I don't think he coped with the pressure on him very well, he signed for over £1m and was expected to score goals, along with the other strikers Pardew signed, and take us back to the Prem.

If he can score goals though - why can't Dickson? There's really not that much between them. I think both might be useful, might get a few goals, but neither of them we can be certain of doing it. We can't afford to give either of them a long run in the hope they'll suddenly start scoring either.

We spent £1.5m on Gray, £2.5m on Varney about £1m on Mcleod. We've still been paying Dickson and Fleetwoods wages all this time, which has not seen them score a single league goal between them. Gray is useless.

Useless ha ha nice one have you tried to think maybe it's our style of play that was useless and varney only counts as a 1million loss as we rekindled 1.5 didnt we?

Gray was poor but we need to take into account that he was playing unwittingly with a fractured pelvis and his wife was critically ill.

Was it our style of play that cemented Gray's feet to the ground every time the ball was in the penalty area?

No I think it was the fractured pelvis.

Gray is not good enough. Has he had a fracture pelvis since he signed for us? Iwelumo was much better. I think Burton could be quite uself for us next year, with the right partner. He's also played in League one before with Brentford.

I think he was suffering most of last season with a hamstring problem that they couldn't resolve and was playing in pain each game. It was finally resolved that the problem was due to the fact that he had a fractured pelvis, which he had had for a considerable time, unknown to all and sundry. Only the 2nd player to have such a problem I seem to recall.

On top of which his wife nearly died.

I think I can cut him some slack.

PS Are you Rob Styles ? If so I refuse to speak you anymore :-)

I'm with you 100% Covered End anyone who can't cut him some slack after all of the cr*p he put up with last season clearly needs their head checked how many goals has he scored for us in total?

    Played (including as sub) 42
    Goals 8

For someone who had a fractured hip for however long un noticed and having to go through his wife coming very close to dying I really cannot fault him. Not enough goals for any other striker BUT I'm talking about Andy no one else.

I saw him half a dozen times for Brentford and he was goal-shy then, always looking to pass rather than have a shot.

Blimey when you watch that You Tube video of McLeod it's hard to believe it's the same player. Would be great if he could reproduce some of those finishes for us - like the one against Brentford.

Have a feeling he'll need to move on though to recapture that sort of form. Can't see him getting the sort of run in the side that would breed the confidence he needs.

Quite honestly I don`t think that in the 48 years watching Charlton I have ever seen a poorer crop of strikers. Don`t have any confidence that any one of them will score goals. Unless this is dramatically remedied over the next few weeks we can certainly forget promotion or even the play offs this season.
