Welling PA system/announcer

Does anyone know if either the PA system or the announcer (or preferably both!) have been upgraded since this time last year?

It would be helpful to have some idea of the Addicks' starting line-up without the need to recognise players' faces in the distance!

    I hope not.

The inability to hear anything other than 'can the youngsters get off the hoardings' has always been part of the attraction with Welling

I remember standing behind the goal watching our reserves and one of the lads managed to drop his half time pint he bought in from the Guy. We were pushing all the glass into a tidy heap when Graham Hobbins, God rest him, appeared and gave us a bollocking which cumulated in him telling us "Anymore and you won't be going back to The Valley!". Shut us up, I can tell you.

Remember it well, was stood there and he was having a pop at me, even though I hadn't been anywhere near a pint! Bilbo Hobbins - Park View legend.

Nothing wrong with a Greasy Pam's Burger. Never did me any harm 20 plus years ago. Did lay off the onions though.

You could smell those onions just as you turned into Welling High Street!
