Alexandre Song, aged 19 played for Charlton yesterday.

When was the previous game that a teenager played a Premier league match for Charlton?

I remember Konch & Parker both played in that grandstand finish match v Newcastle that sparked off a mini -revival in 1998-99.

And Ossy Sankofa came on as sub in the 75th minute away at Man Yoo 3 or 4 years ago when we lost 4-1. He was about 17 or so, I think.

Can't think of anybody else, offhand.

Kevin Lisbie springs to mind - he made his debut last week against Chelsea at just 16 years old

the future is bright, the future is Lisbie

What about Carlton Cole. I have a feeling he wasn't quite 20 when he first played for us?

Bit before Curbs' time, maybe? :-)
Thread was meant to be Charlton playing teenager's in the Prem.

So far, from our Academy into the 1st team, we've got:

    Konchesky
    Parker
    Sankofa

    Plus aliens:
    Cole
    Spector
    Song

    Anyone forgotten?

Jon Fortune was 20 or 21 I think when he made his debut.

He is about the only other "Home Grown" player not mentioned.

Sam was 20 not sure about Campbell Ryce off the top of my head.

Did Campbell Ryce actually play in the Prem? I know he featured in Carling games but I can't remember a Prem game offhand.

Maybe home to Arsenal 1-1 when di Canio scored from that cheeky penalty?

I think he made a handful of Prem sub appearances.

Thanks, Rothko. Was he a fully qualified teenager making his debut or 20 plus+ ?
  • Don't forget Paul Walsh, Paul Elliott & Lee Bowyer.
