Double Standards

from our friends at the Inland Revenue or HM Revenue and Customs as they now prefer to be known.

Rushden and Diamonds are threatened with liquidation for not paying taxes quickly enough yet a small charity I know, which is heavily dependent on the tax refunded from gift aided donations, has to wait "indefinitely" (according to the scouser in Bootle I phoned to check progress after 5 weeks) to wait for the funds it is entitled to because HMRC are so far behind processing applications for refunds.

One rule for them one rule for us.

  • Len, the Government is in trouble. It is collecting money as fast as it can and withholding any pay outs for as long as it can. It is now collecting taxes from directors/shareholders before they have actually received the money. There is a lot of trouble ahead, I fear
