Whilst we are on droaning on about our shambolic lot, hearing Big John's problems this morning brings it into perspective.

Best of luck to him.

    Totally agree.

I've been to the docs a couple of times just for re-assurance in my own mind as its pretty difficult without getting a pro opinion on what's ok and what's not. Have a grab and if something feels weird get down the docs.

I read about it this morning, whatever you thought of him when he was playing - and many had strong opinions - this is not nice.

    Best of luck to JH

it's terrible news, all the best to him.

not a big enough story to be a headline on sky sports news though, they went with man utd's macheda being burgled.

He has only just been disagnosed and they are beginning teatment immediately. Doesn't sound good. Big John's only 34. Let's hope he can beat this - he's always been up for a scrap.

neil harris had testicular cancer and back playing. Brain cancer as a secondary cancer, altogether different and very worrying for him and his family.

It seems to me a high number of footballers get testicular cancer. Could this be because they are getting hit by the ball in the knackers ?

    This is a serious question.

I think the instance of testicular cancer in general is probably higher than you realise CE. Its by far the most common form of cancer in men under forty - I think the incidence amongst footballers - as a representative sample of healthy young men - is actually lower than I would expect. Thankfully, its eminently treatable in most cases when caught early enough - and has a simpler self-diagnosis procedure than the obvious counterpart in women (breast cancer)

I heard about this early today and want to wish the bloke nothing but the best. Terrible time for him and his family, one of the last generation of proper 'orrible forwards and a man's man. I hope he can smash this out the way.
