I watched this the first time around and couldn’t believe how few picked it up.
I was gutted when it got binned.
But as soon as it came out on DVD I bought it and it’s my go to cheer myself up comedy (that & Ain’t Half Hot Mum on YouTube).
Theres a petition up now to try and get another series done. Phil Mealey is right up for it.
Theres a stage version too which you can get on Vimeo.
Theres an Early Doors twitter page which regularly puts clips up. Always makes my day.
Now, about those temporary traffic lights………2 -
The bent coppers are the best in that, brilliant1

Spot on.
Jim Morrison began 'Crystal Ship' on this first album with:'Before you slip into unconsciousness' so perhaps he was aware of the double meaning.
Perhaps the song before that 'Break on through' was about access to the pub before opening.0 -
I've never seen that comedy show before.
Very funny, I like it.0 -
Phil Mealey and Craig Cash got the mood and observations just right. Superb writing and I'm enjoying watching on catch up and LOL just before midnight so I can be happy before shut eye.
Just as funny the second time around.
I'm sure there are a few 'Tommy the Lollipop man' on CL.

Comedy is so subjective, I remember early doors and enjoyed it first time round. It had the immediate feel of something Craig cash or the amazing Caroline ahearne would make all over it. Stuff like that is more about seeing the observational stuff and the little details and they aren't always laugh a minute but when you see the behaviour of someone you know that's what makes me laugh or even just smile and nod my head. The Detectorists does a lot of that and its more comedic in the sense it makes you feel good rather than something more like the invetweeners or white gold where you get more uncontrollable hilarity0
