England squad:

Michael Vaughan (captain, age 32, Yorkshire),
Ed Joyce (28, Middlesex),
Ian Bell (24, Warwickshire),
Kevin Pietersen (26, Hampshire),
Andrew Strauss (29, Middlesex),
Paul Collingwood (30, Durham),
Andrew Flintoff (29, Lancashire),
Ravi Bopara (21, Essex),
Paul Nixon (36, Leicestershire),
Jamie Dalrymple (26, Middlesex),
Liam Plunkett (21, Durham),
James Anderson (24, Lancashire),
Sajid Mahmood (25, Lancashire),
Jon Lewis (31, Gloucestershire),
Monty Panesar (24, Northants).

No Mal Loye, didnt do enough over the tri series thing.

One W/K in Nixon, Strauss or Joyce can cover that.

Vaughen as captain. (Great)

KP back in squad.

Ravi Bopara is a good inclusion imo

Thought they would of included Broad!

Thoughts campers??

    Nixon deserves to be there...

Good squad overall. Might even stick some notes on us to win it.

Thats the spirit Ketman , why the fuck are we even bothering

We've only just beaten the Aussies 3 times in their own back yard as well

Lets send the womens team instead

exactly, don't listen to him. that hatrick couldn't have come at a better time. we'll have a proper go now with a lot of confidence, i'm certainly chucking a few quid on.

Most of them strolled over like they couldn't be ar*ed (sounds familiar?). Nixon got there, and eventually got up on the wall. Fair play. Had his shades nicked for his troubles....

Harmy gets homesick walking to the paper shop!

Pretty much as expected really. I may have been tempted to include Gough instead of one of Lewis or Mahmood (probably Lewis as Mahmood is the better batter) but otherwise they're going with the form players.
  • Seems about the right choice.
MCS is right - in one-day cricket anything can happen
you just need two bats to make a score (Pietersen and Colly or Flintoff) and two bowlers to be red-hot (Flintoff and Monty) and you're with a chance

We beat the Aussies three times on the spin with half of them not actually contributing anything (Strauss and Lowe in particular spring to mind) and NIxon didn't get any runs though he is in the team for his sledging so presumably his efforts were up to scratch and gave the Aussies something to think about

looks a weak bowling line up to me, particularly if it doesn't seam.

i'd keep your money in your pocket if i was you.
  • Harmison has retired from the one-dayers. Mal Loye had his chance in Australia but didn't do enough.

Apart from injuries to KP, Lewis and Vaughan it looks ok. I think success will be getting to the semis.
