For those who may be interested, volume 2 of the 'Valiant 1000' is progressing well and should appear early in 2024. I wonder if anybody has any idea what happened to Paul Lazarus after his playing career came to an end around year 2000. He played twice for Charlton in 1980 and was voted Young Player of the Year, but left the club in April 1981. He spent some time at Wimbledon and helped them get relegated in 1982. From then on he commuted between the UK and Finland, playing for a host of non-league clubs like Maidstone, Dartford, Chelmsford etc and spent all his summers turning out for various clubs in the Finnish leagues.
My question is...What happened to him after he finished playing? Did he remain living in Finland or is he back in the UK. He may be your next door neighbour or even your golfing opponent. Any clues to his whereabouts or later activities would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry Ian I can’t help with an update on Paul.
But I wanted to say that volume 1 is a goldmine of information. My only complaint, which I hope can be rectified in the next 2 volumes, is I thought the photos of the players were very poor quality both in size & clarity.
That said, I’m looking forward to taking a further trip down memory lane0 -
According to Wyn Grant's blog, and football league world, he settled in Finland.

Saw him score what I think was his only goal away at Walsall in October 1980.0
