Henry's passes are being easily read by non league players.
Dare I say that he isnt good enough either. Like Morgan & Chin before him.

How was your pre-season workout Golfie?

I've noted plenty of negative comments, you've rolled out the standard "we need a striker" line, but it seems you're not quite firing on all cylinders yet. You confident of being match-fit in time for the big kick off?
Think I'lm be a bit undercooked tbh. Got the Ashes & the Open to concentrate on first so wont be up to speed until late July.

But not buying a season ticket this year & will choose my games. Def going to go to the Orient game & maybe the Aberdeen match too. After that who knows. But going to a lot less games this season.....unless we start off like a train and look like we mean business. Currently it looks like we are going for 46 0-0 draws. If we finally buy a striker of note I might get interested.

However, my son will still be doing the music & big screen on matchdays so he will be feeding back to me all the ins & outs.
  • I thought Chin Campbell Anderson Ness and Elewere all played well.

Hope its not too serious we need him. At least it may put off prospective buyers

    To who?
Seeing as Lavelle has scored from a Dobson cross, I should imagine Welling.
    It was a Fraser cross.

Quite annoying to have your main striker injured by a dodgy tackle in the first pre-season game. I get that injuries happen but from what I've heard it was an unnecessary challenge

Don't forget it's the Charlton norm, for an integral player to be injured early on and have no decent backup, giving us the usual mountain to climb.

    Even better than 3/1, Charlton - 3!
  • Good start to preseason games.

attack looks very weak and lack lustre- hope we don’t keep Kirk and play him CF!!

Trialist look decent, think he’s about 20yo, but a had a few nervy spells!

Rylah, Mitchell & ness looked class

Let’s hope that Leaburn’s injury is not serious but let’s hope that this scare proves once and for all that going into a season with one recognised/adequate/non crocked striker is suicide. Hopefully we learn what we failed to learn last season Get the chequebook out please.

It’s just about getting minutes into the typing fingers at this stage of the summer.
It's also about getting minutes into the supporters to get them ready for the new season.

I told Holden I wasn't ready for the Welling game, but would do the full 90 at Dartford next Saturday.

    This is where we are.

We shop tentatively in the bargain basement for strikers, relying on our admirable youth development to fill gaps they really have no right in doing at this point of their careers.  What talent there is available out there realistically in our price bracket gets hoovered by those, who realise that the extra spend now, in that area gives you a sniff at promotion from this poxy, morale draining league of long trips to shitholes, and games officiated by inadequate bullied referees.  A successful loan is a bonus, but more miss than hit in our case.

There is no real alternative outside of real football savvy owners, with cash. Rare as rocking horse shit they are, there are far more rich people out in the twatasphere,  who fancy a punt, because "it's easy right?". We are ripe for that lot!

I am sorry to piss on a good preseason win, pedictable as a football match can be.  Thoroughly dispirited by our mess of a football club.

    Fuck off Roland.
    Fuck off Thomas.
Thankyou for your efforts but do one.

    Welcome, to the next lot.

  • Some good performances by a number of individuals including Campbell,Kanu and Lavelle, not sure why we are giving a trial to a centrehalf when we already have 7 of them . Thought our right wing back in the second half looked good
As others have said Henry was very poor - not sure why we gave him a new contract and let Morgan and Claire go -Henry is no where near good enough

Great interview with Dean Holden on Charlton TV. The last answer in particular is encouraging.

Paraphrasing but ‘we want players who can handle playing for a big historical club like Charlton and can drag it out of this division, next few weeks are exciting.’

Can’t help but be impressed by the bloke.

Love his enthusiasm, but there comes a point where your history means nothing... we seem to love living in the past.

Of course he’s unlikely to have broken anything but it could be ligaments who knows at this juncture and we won’t know until any swelling has gone down and it’s been X-rayed. The medical team obviously don’t want him to risk further damage hence the protective boot as a precaution.

Some years back Kelly Youga walked / limped off and never played again.

It's Charlton. All injuries are as bad as possible.

Stuart Pearce tried to run off a broken leg once, when he was playing for Wet Spam.

The Welling pitch is very uneven. Henry does have potential.

To be fair Stuart Pearce was an exceptional example, he was chiselled out of granite💪 😉.
