[cite]Posted By: cfgs[/cite]Gray, hmmmm that is strange because if his move is nailed on it is strange that they would let him risk injury with us

Fair point but it could also be argued that a club would want a new signing to be match fit or somewhere near it.

It could be part of the deal that we have to play him to test or improve his match fitness to ease the transition at the new club.

Big clubs like Barnsley can boss tiddlers like us about you know:-)

So Barnsley aren't playing any pre-season matches to test out players who are on trial with them then?

Gray is under contract to Charlton unlike Fortune who was out of contract.

That is the difference. I don't think a contracted player is allowed to play for another club without a formal loan agreement of some kind.

    Could be wrong though.

A better test would have been for him to play against Citeh today. Barnsley have apparantly got a trialist up front for them

Before he moves to Hearts for £2mill, you mean .... ?

    ;o)
  • At least he is getting in the right spaces to have the shots I suppose...half way towards being a great striker!

Then let him go on loan ahead of a move. That way Barnsley can see how he plays to their formation and system and can they monitor his fitness etc, his playing for us isn't going to answer a lot of questions regarding his match fitness or ability to slot into their team.

We signed Deon Burton on loan before it becoming official when the transfer window opened.

If there is anything in the rumours concerning Gray then his selection today is perhaps an indication that one or more of McLeod/Dickson/Fleetwood are on their way and Parky is not going to let another striker go who we may well be needing, at least not before we draft in a replacement or two. in the meantime he stays and earns his living.

By the law of averages he MUST score at some point.

They have different atmospheric conditions and heavier balls...in jockball they'd have been goals.

Like, "at least he's getting in the right position to drop catches. Half way to being a great wicket keeper". Or "at least he's being punched in the face, hard, repeatedly. Half way to being a good boxer"

Starting to dominate more, bailey n gray don't look interested, sam n llera best two so far. Bmouth had one chance, all us otherwise but not very convincing!

He should manage to get two or three between now and then. Expecially if the opposition leave the pitch at the end of the game.
